My Team's Next MatchEdmonton Oilers

Though meeting at the Big Dance for a second time, Edmonton earned a 4-3 Western Conference Semifinal series win back in 2006, the Oilers and Sharks are very familiar with each other. After a 15-3-2 run by the Sharks, that started five years ago, the Oilers have won three in a row by an 11-5 final count. Straddling the New Year, San Jose won the first two meetings by 3-2 and 5-3 margins.

Expected for a decade, due to a wealth of top NHL Draft picks, the Oilers have finally brought playoff hockey back to the Alberta Capital. Streaky during many parts of the season, Edmonton was lights out down the stretch as they closed the year on an impressive 12-2-0 run. An Anaheim Ducks goal with 8:26 left in the regular season kept the Oilers from claiming first in the Pacific.

San Jose was opposite to Edmonton as they had a 42-20-7 mid-March record before finishing on a 4-9-0 skid. The Sharks had to fight through some key injuries near the end of the year. San Jose played 24 playoff games before losing in the Cup Final to Pittsburgh a year ago. Now they have just grinded out another 82 matches so one has to wonder if the Sharks are running a little low on fuel.

San Jose Sharks vs Edmonton Oilers 2017 NHL Playoff Series Summary – Oilers Win 4-2

For the first time since May 27, 2006, the Edmonton Oilers have claimed a playoff series win. Full marks for a rock solid quarterfinal win, with the exception of the Game 4 debacle, the young Oilers posted a 3-1 win in Game 6 to eliminate the defending Western Conference Champion San Jose Sharks. Edmonton All-Star Connor McDavid literally “shovelled” a puck into the Sharks empty net to get us a PUSH on our Game 6 OVER/UNDER wager. Overall, this was a rough series for us as we ended up with a -305 unit loss. As a slight “silver-lining” our Edmonton Stanley Cup futures bet is still alive. We’ll predict each game of the Oilers vs Anaheim Ducks Conference Semifinal battle.

Our Crew at Canada Sports Betting has been monitoring the Edmonton Oilers Stanley Cup futures odds all season – with a sharp focus over the past month and half. The path isn’t easy but we still like our original wager on the Oiler bringing the Cup back to Alberta for the first time since 1990. Wow – Time sure flies eh! Stanley Cup 2019 Odds: Tavares & Toronto Favorites?
Toronto will remember July 1st, 2018 not as Canada Day, but Tavares Day, after the pride of Mississauga was liberated from the New York Islanders. This stunning coup solidifies the Leafs top-line talent for the next half-decade, creating a long window of opportunity for Toronto’s long-suffering franchise. The Maple Leafs odds to win the Stanley Cup in 2019 jumped to +700 after the announcement, better than the Lightning, Bruins and Golden Knights. Toronto’s finally positioned as favorites to win their first ring since 1967, despite questions surrounding their blueline and goaltending.
