MLS Predictions: Columbus Crew vs Toronto FC Odds, Picks, Live Score
There's more midweek action in the MLS this week as the Columbus Crew host Toronto FC at Mapfre Stadium. The Crew will be looking to snare all three points against the Eastern Conference leaders who are in great form. All the action starts at 7:30 ET on Wednesday May 10th.

Columbus Crew vs Toronto FC Odds

My Team's Next MatchToronto

Toronto FC are well and truly in the mood. They have won their last four matches and have looked comfortable throughout this impressive run. While many (including this writer) felt that the advantage of being at home for the first three matches was a probable reason for their streak, a fourth win away to the MLS Cup Champions Seattle less than 72 hours after their last match has surely silenced any remaining critics who don’t think Toronto are the real deal in 2017.

The Reds have now equalled their best ever MLS winning streak, matching the four consecutive victories earned in July and August last season. A fifth would not only top this record but secure Toronto’s hold on first position in the East and really send a message to rivals. Fittingly, the match is against the Columbus Crew who are the only side in ten attempts this season to defeat TFC (this match was also played at Mapfre Stadium). This is a great opportunity for Toronto to show they can learn and adjust their style as they try to keep the run going.

Columbus are doing well themselves in spite of mixed recent form and currently occupy fourth on the Eastern Conference table. After a slow start to the season featuring a draw and a loss, the Crew won their next three matches and shot up the table with ten points from their opening five games. Just six points from their next five games has seen their momentum stall as they suffered losses to both New York sides and Chicago in this period. Consistency has been their real issue and Columbus will look to regain this when they host Toronto.

Historically speaking, Columbus has the overall upper-hand in their record against Toronto. At Mapfre Stadium, Columbus hold a record of nine wins to Toronto’s three, and of course they have already won in this fixture less than a month ago. Toronto has a slight advantage overall in the last ten meetings between the sides (they hold a 4-3-3) record.

TORONTO FC (+240) Bet365

I predicted Toronto would drop points in their weekend trip to Seattle given that they had a short turnaround and they proved me wrong. This will be their fourth match in two weeks and fatigue is surely going to become a factor, particularly as the Crew’s fixture list has been much less congested in recent weeks. Although the Reds are on a hot streak and will be looking to reverse their loss to the Crew last month, I think Columbus will come into this one with the confidence of having already beaten Toronto and will go on to win this one as well.

MLS Predictions Roundup – May 10, 2017

While Toronto vs Columbus is the only match on May 10th, the MLS throws up another solid fixture as Houston host Vancouver from 9pm ET on Friday May 12th.

Houston go into the match knowing that a win would propel them to the top of the Western Conference table, at least temporarily, while Vancouver could rise as high as fifth. Both sides won on their last outings and have won two of their last three. Houston’s last match was against former Eastern Conference leaders Orlando and the result was a resounding 4-0 victory.

While both teams are in form, I expect that Houston will have too much firepower for the Whitecaps and win comfortably here.
