CFL Picks Week 2
CFL Football Games This Week
Close contests were plentiful during CFL 2017 Opening Week action as three of four battles were decided by three points or less. The lone romp was Argos 32-15 trouncing of the Tiger-Cats. That could change this week as a few matches have potential to be blowouts. Playing a third straight contest, including their 2016 Grey Cup clash, Calgary and Ottawa open the CFL Week 2 schedule.
Sports bettors, who appreciate longer fields and bigger balls, get a CFL doubleheader on Friday, June 30, 2017. First up, the BC Lions head East to battle the Argos at 7:00 PM ET. That is followed by the Alouettes visiting the injury riddled Eskimos at 10:00 PM ET. Week 2 closes on Canada Day when Saskatchewan hosts Winnipeg in the first regular season match at Mosaic Stadium in Regina. Trying to figure out how they were annihilated by the Argos – Hamilton is on a BYE this week.
CFL Predictions Today and Week 1 Review
Prior to making our Week 2 predictions – we take a quick look back at our Week 1 selections. We expected Saskatchewan vs Montreal and Edmonton vs British Columbia would be close matches and that was the case in both contests. At the other end of the spectrum, we put too much faith in Calgary and Hamilton on the road and took hits that dropped us to a 2-2 season opening mark.
- Ottawa at Calgary Pick: Stampeders -7.5 (-110) ATS at SportsInteraction
Back-to back battles in sports always present an intriguing matchup. Add some bad blood, created from a third straight same-opponent match, and the plot gets even thicker. After hanging on for a 31-31 Week 1 tie, Ottawa rolls into Calgary as these East/West rivals square off for the fifth time in less than a year. After a 26-16 tie in the Nations Capital last season – the Stampeders stomped the Redblacks 48-23 in the rematch in Calgary. Ottawa had the last laugh with a 39-33 win in the 104th Grey Cup. We are laying the -7.5 (-110) ATS price to back the Stamps at SportsInteraction.
Final Score: Calgary Stampeders 43-39
- British Columbia at Toronto Pick: Lions (+110) Money Line at Bodog
BC is in Toronto to kick off the Week 2 Friday Night CFL doubleheader. The Lions dropped a close contest (30-27) to the Eskimos and the Argonauts trashed the Tiger-Cats (32-15) during Week 1 action. In a stunning reversal of fortune, the Argos victory pushed their Grey Cup futures line from (+1200) to (+750) but we are not as sold on them as the online bookmakers are. Understanding they are the home squad, we are slightly surprised that Toronto is -2 (-110) chalk at Bodog tonight. The Argos are facing a much better offence this week – back BC with the (+110) money line.
Final Score: British Columbia Lions 28-15
- Montreal at Edmonton Pick: Eskimos -8.5 (-110) ATS at William Hill
Week 1 winners close out the June 30, 2017, CFL action when the Alouettes face the Eskimos at Commonwealth Stadium in the Alberta Capital. Edmonton stunned British Columbia with a 76-yard pass play and a field goal in the final seconds of their clash with the Leos. In a battle of bottom feeders, Montreal kicked a late field goal to earn a 17-16 home win versus Saskatchewan. As is the case with Toronto vs BC – the Alouettes are facing a much stiffer test this week. The line is a fairly large one but we are backing the Eskimos at home with the -8.5 (-110) ATS odds at William Hill.
Final Score: Edmonton Eskimos 23-19
- Winnipeg at Saskatchewan Pick: Blue Bombers (+135) Money Line at Bet365
Saskatchewan looks to rebound from their loss in Montreal while Winnipeg plays their first match of the season when Week 2 ends on Canada Day. It is going to be a crazy good party in Regina as ‘Rider Nation gets their first taste of regular season CFL action in the opulent new Mosaic Stadium on July 1, 2017. The Blue Bombers have won the last three meetings in this series. Apologizing for sounding like a broken record, the Roughriders face a more potent opponent this week and we see the Bombers ruining the Party on the Prairies. Take the Winnipeg (+135) money line at Bet365.
Final Score: Winnipeg Blue Bombers 43-40 (OT)

CFL wagering options are just the tip of the iceberg at the recommended sportsbooks in our Top Five table below. As is always the case, Major League Baseball is a hot ticket as there are 60 duels on the diamonds between now and Sunday night. Battles on the pitch are also prevalent as 20 of the 22 Major League Soccer squads will square off during the 150th Canada Day long weekend.
Born and raised in the Great White North – we are ardent fans of most things Canadian – including real beer, back bacon and the Rocky Mountains. One thing we can’t get onboard with however is the wagering schemes offered via the Provincial Lottery system. Canadians are encouraged to check out CSB top rated Canada facing bookmakers as they welcome and respect Canuck ‘Cappers.
