Washington vs Dallas: Thinly Veiled Playoff Style Contest Closes NFL Week 13 Action
Washington Redskins: Playoff contender lacking an identity
When you hear “Washington Redskins” what’s the first thing that comes to mind? The controversy over their team name comes up a lot – so does the fact that they have one of the worst owners in the NFL. Finding star players (or even one player) that define this team is not an easy task. QB Kirk Cousins ranks 19th in passing yards, RB Alfred Morris is 28th in rushing yards and WR Pierre Garcon sits 63rd in receiving yards. That said, Washington is 5-6 and a win gives them sole possession of first place in the NFC East. The Redskins have been on a “lose one – win one” run during their last six games as they aim to post back-to-back victories for the first time this season and the second time over their last 44 games. Building on recent success is not strong point for the ‘Skins.
Dallas Cowboys: Lowly Lone Star State Crew clings to faint NFC East Division playoff hopes
A lost season would be punctuated with a defeat tonight as Dallas is sporting a 3-8 record and sit last overall in the National Football Conference. That’s the bad news for Cowboys fans – the good news is they still have a shot at winning the lame NFC East. A Dallas win here leaves the Redskins, Giants and Eagles with a 5-7 record while the Cowboys would move to 4-8 and earn a tiebreaker as the only team with three divisional victories. The road ahead is not easy though as QB Tony Romo is done for the season and Matt Cassel is back under center for the Boys. Cassel is 0-4 during his four starts, he has thrown an equal amount of TD’s and INT’s at five and his 42.4 total QB rating is one of the worst marks in the NFL. The Cowboys 18.5 points scored per game ranks 29th overall.
Dallas vs Washington NFL Week 13 Prediction: Although there are more important motivating factors, Washington probably remembers the 44-17 crushing the Cowboys laid on them at home during Week 16 action last season. The Redskins need to get their ground game in gear here as the Cowboys fifth ranked pass defense has allowed just 225.1 yards per game this season. Washington isn’t exactly lighting up their opponents as their 21.9 points per game ranks 20th overall. Not seeing either team blowing out the other, we are taking the +10.5 points and backing Dallas with a 1000 unit wager on the Alternate Spread price posted on the NFL betting board at William Hill.
