Washington vs Buffalo: Capitals Look to Make Gains Against Stumbling Sabres
Prior to the Madness, today we check in on National Hockey League action with a focus on the Washington vs Buffalo battle. The Capitals once commanding Wild Card lead has shrunk somewhat while the Sabres continue to occupy the NHL basement. Puck drop for this Eastern Conference clash is at 7:00 PM ET on March 16, 2015, at the First Niagara Center, Buffalo, NY. Make Capital gains!

Washington Capitals: Back as Wild Card leaders in the East

Although the NHL playoffs don’t begin for another three weeks or so, Washington had a tune-up when they posted a 2-0 win over Boston yesterday. The victory pushed the Capitals back into the #7 seed in the East – two points ahead of the Bruins and seven points clear of the surging Senators. Washington snapped a two-game losing streak and now they get another shot at the Sabres who they destroyed 6-1 in The District back on March 7. The Caps will be in playoff mode again tonight.

Buffalo Sabres: Continue to fend off Edmonton to keep control of the NHL Cellar battle

In a “race” of their own, albeit not of the NHL postseason variety, Buffalo continues to fend of Edmonton in the Battle for the Basement. The Sabres and Oilers are both officially eliminated from the playoffs but the Draft Lottery advantage is still squarely in play. Not quite in total tank mode just yet, Buffalo has earned nine out of a possible 30 points (3-9-3) over their last 15 games. That said they are 0-5-1 over their last six games getting outscored by a 23-9 margin in the process.

Sabres vs Capitals Call: This contest is the game in hand the Sabres have on the Oilers and a win tonight would actually be a loss as their Draft Lottery “lead” would shrink to just two points. With Ottawa charging like bull, and Washington playing playoff contenders during nine of their last twelve games, the Caps need to pick up two points when they face NHL cellar dwellers. The Caps are thick road chalk tonight – as we expected. We do however see some value in the 3 Way betting lines posted on the betting board at the online sportsbook. We are cruising with Capitals and 500 unit wager on Washington winning this match in regulation time.
