The Viral Roundup – Rocket Fuel Edition

The Viral Roundup – Rocket Fuel Edition
Houston scores a W in Washington, the Celtics play inhospitable hosts to Chicago and the Habs fall to the Bruins in an Original Six tilt. Here's the sparkling fresh world of sports you're waking up to on December 10, 2015.

Did You Hear?

James Harden torched the Wizards for 42 points on Wednesday night to notch a valuable road win. Houston topped Washington 109-103 at the Verizon Center to score their fourth win in five games. Harden’s stellar performance marks his sixth 40 point outing of the season and Houston managed to hit 12 triples on the night. John Wall provided 26 points and 12 assists for Washington in a losing cause. The Rockets entered the game as a +150 moneyline road underdog.

Did You See?

As things look bleaker and bleaker for a certain set of NFL squads, the sex appeal of an awesome draft pick looms larger and larger. We understand the wild optimism that comes with a high draft choice, but the latest edition of the NFL’s Scout vs. Scout segment is here to bring things back to reality. Former NFL scouts Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks have sorted out the Top 5 Heisman Trophy Busts in the league’s history. (It may be the first time you’ve thought about Jason White in like a decade.) Speaking of the NFL, Arizona are an eight point home favourite for tonight’s Thursday Night Football clash with visiting Minnesota.

Did You Know?

– The Bruins killed off three penalties and benefitted from 32 stops from Tukka Rask to best the Habs 3-1 in Original Six play. The Canadiens held the lead midway into the third when the B’s lit the lamp for three goals, including Patrice Bergeron’s ninth of the season. Montreal have been wobbly of late and this marks their third straight loss. Meanwhile, the Bruins move into eight points back in the Atlantic standings chase.

– Jimmy Butler put up 36 points in Boston, but it was the Celtics who exited with the W. Boston, a three point home favourite, relied on scoring from the bench to top the Bulls 105-100. Isaiah Thomas was clutch on the night scoring nine of his 20 points in the final three minutes of play. It’s a familar outcome for Chicago fans of late, as the team’s struggled in the 4th quarter.

– The Golden State Warriors are unquestionably the best team in basketball and their dominance has not gone unnoticed by oddsmakers. The Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook has Steph Curry’s squad as the favourite in all but one of their upcoming 2015-16 regular season matchups. Only a March 19th tilt in San Antonio has the Warriors in the spot of line underdog. Mind you, this could all be subject to change if injuries happen or the sky starts falling. Speaking of which, guard Klay Thompson hopes to be okay for immediate action following the sprained ankle he suffered in Golden State’s 131-123 victory over Indiana.
