The Rangers couldn’t escape Brooklyn with a win. A Kyle Okposo goal-winning shootout marker provied the Isles with a 2-1 win over their in-state rivals. Jaroslav Halak made 33 saves in the win for the Islanders while Henrik Lundqvist stopped 36 in a losing cause. Extra time wouldn’t have been needed if the Rangers could have capitalized on their three blown power play opportunities. These two teams will face off three more times this season.

The UFC’s hype machine is in full effect for this month’s colossal card in Las Vegas and that means preview video packages galore. MMA’s biggest outfit has trotted out a new extended preview ahead of their UFC 194 show on December 12. It’s a stuffed card featuring interim featherweight champ Conor McGregor (a -160 favourite) tackling champion Jose Aldo in the main event. – Golden State have won twenty straight to start the season. The Warriors (a nine point road favourite) clobbered the Hornets 116-99 on Wednesday and have scored one hundred points or more in all of their 2015-16 wins. Steph Curry put 40 on the scoreboard with 28 of those points coming in the 3rd quarter. THe Warriors can 21-0 tomorrow versus Toronto.

– The Winnipeg Jets picked up their second straight win thanks to a 6-1 thumping of the Maple Leafs. (Winnipeg were a -160 home favourite heading in.) Connor Hellebuyck stopped 32 shots and Drew Stafford scored a pair in this blowout victory, while Michael Grabner scored his first of the year in a losing cause. Speaking of the Leafs, they sent Jonathan Bernier down to the minors for a conditioning stint.

– The Cleveland Browns remain steadfast in their belief that Johnny Manziel should remain on the bench. It’s been announced that Austin Davis will get the start for Cleveland on Sunday against the 9-2 Cincinnati Bengals. Original starter Josh McCown is out for the year with a collarbone injury and Davis performed admirably in relief last week going 7 for 10 with 77 yards and a TD. The Browns are a massive nine-and-a-half point home underdog for this weekend’s clash.

– Georgia’s next head coach will be plucked from the Crimson Tide’s coaching staff. ESPN is reporting that Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart has been tapped as the man that will succeed former Georgia mainstay Mark Richt as the program’s head coach. Speaking of Bama and the SEC, the Tide will do battle with Florida on Saturday for the conference crown. Alabama are favoured by a robust seventeen-and-a-half points.
