– Steve Smith is letting the world know that he’ll be packing it in at the end of this year. The veteran wideout with a career resume that includes 915 receptions and 73 TD catches has declared that he’ll make family his priority once the Ravens wrap up their season. “I feel like it’s time,” said the Baltimore Raven. “I’m going to retire after this, go home and be a dad and look back and enjoy things.” The Ravens are currently pegged as a 25/1 shot to win this year’s Super Bowl.
– The Pittsburgh Steelers have a special teams dilemma facing their franchise. Kicker Shaun Suisham will likely be placed on the injured reserve after suffering an ACL tear in this weekend’s preseason game versus Minnesota. The Steelers are currently without another kicker on the roster.
– The New England Patriots have made a change at quarterback. The Pats have cut veteran QB Matt Flynn and have filed his spot with ex-Cardinals pivot Ryan Lindley. New England’s sorting out their depth chart with Tom Brady currently set to miss a chunk of the regular season courtesy of the NFL’s deflategate ruling. Brady’s in the #1 spot, Jimmy Garoppolo is in the backup role and Lindley’s set to play QB #3.
– The New York Rangers have inked ex-Kings centre Jarret Stoll to a one year deal worth $800K. The signing comes not too far removed from Stoll’s guilty plea in a felony cocaine case. Stoll scored 17 points in 73 games last season.
