NFL Week 15 Odds Chicago vs Minnesota Bitter NFC North Rivals Clash
Minnesota Vikings: Playoff contenders in the tight NFC race
Sitting with an 8-5 record, Minnesota is still well positioned in the NFC playoff race and they can clinch at least a Wild Card berth if several things fall their way today. While the Vikings postseason scenarios are akin to a Rubik’s cube, the one that seems the most plausible is a MIN win + NYG loss or tie + ATL loss or tie. Snapping a two game losing streak is foremost on the minds of Minnesota fans as the Vikings were shelled 38-7 at home by Seattle in Week 13 prior to dropping a close 23-20 decision to the Cardinals in Arizona during Thursday Night Football action last week.
Chicago Bears: Missed field goals have kicked Da Bears playoff hopes to the curb
While it’s not all on him, there would be a lot more on the line in this contest if Chicago kicker Robbie Gould had not missed a late game field goal during the Bears last two games. A 36-yard chip-shot would have sealed the deal versus San Francisco at home in Week 13 and a 48-yarder would have sent Chicago into overtime in Washington last week. This is notable as one has to wonder if the Bears have checked out as those losses severely squashed their playoff aspirations. Minnesota has won two in a row and they are 4-3 in this series dating back to 2012.
Minnesota vs Chicago NFL Week 15 Call: The Vikings Week 8 win was secured by a 40-yard touchdown catch by WR Stefon Diggs with 1:46 left on the clock and then, after a Bears three and out, a 35-yard pass set up a 36-yard Blair Walsh field goal as time expired. It should be noted that Diggs was roughed up in that contest and, after starting the season with 419 receiving yards and two touchdowns in four games, the Vikings rookie has jus 219 yards and no touchdowns over his last six games. Neither of these teams is a scoring juggernaut as Chicago has posted 20.9 PPG while Minnesota has recorded 19.2 PPG. Minnesota is dealing with three key injuries on defense so their 19.6 points allowed per game is somewhat misleading while the Bears defense has been generous giving up 24.2 PPG. There isn’t a whole lot separating these teams and they will both pound the rock with their stud running backs. Not seeing either team blowing out the other, give us the +10.5 points as we back the Bears with a 1000 unit wager on the alternate spread price posted on the NFL betting board at Bodog.
