Baltimore Orioles: Defending AL East Champs Chase New York

Following a 2-5 stumble after the All-Star break, Baltimore is starting to roll as they are 8-2 and have scored at least five runs in seven of their last ten starts. Entering today’s action, the Orioles trail the Yankees by 5.5 games in the AL East and they are tied with Toronto and Minnesota for the second AL Wild Card spot. RHP Miguel Gonzalez (9-7 ERA 426) heads to the hill for Baltimore here.

Oakland Athletics: Post All-Star game skid means miserable season continues

While little was expected in Oakland this season, few thought the Athletics would be as bad as they’ve been. Sitting with a dismal 47-60 record Oakland in 13 games out of the AL West race and eight games back in the AL Wild Card race. The Athletics have stumbled to a 6-10 record since the All-Star break – including a 9-2 thumping in the series opener versus the Orioles last night. A fairly bright light for Oakalnd, RHP Chris Bassitt (0-4 ERA 3.10) gets the call for the Athletics tonight.

MLB Game Total Prediction: Baltimore’s last five contests have averaged 11.6 runs per game. There have been at least ten runs scored in seven of Gonzalez’s last eight starts. Bissettt has been farily sharp allowing nine runs over 25 innings during his last four starts. We expect some runs here and we will back the OVER on the 6.5 alternate game total price posted at SportsInteraction.
