Picks & Predictions: Mike Tyson vs Lennox Lewis

Mike Tyson returns to the ring under for his second exhibition fight, this time against old foe Lennox Lewis. The venue is still unconfirmed, but it’s looking likely the bout will go ahead.

The boxing betting odds have been released for the potential fight, with Tyson as the clear favourite.

The last time these two fought was in 2002, with Lennox Lewis coming out victorious. Tyson’s exhibition fights are drawing a lot of public attention, as well as that of many of the best online bookmakers.

Tyson fought boxing legend, Roy Jones Jr., in late November last year, with the fight ending in a controversial draw. “Iron” Mike will look to ensure he secures a win in this fight unless the fight falls under the same rules as the last bout.

It’s still unclear whether the exhibition rules will apply to this fight, though many fans and bettors are hoping there will be a clear-cut winner. Based on the presumption it will be a go-ahead, we have some odds and picks for you below.

Mike Tyson to win via KO/TKO/DQ

The vast majority of online bookmakers have Mike Tyson as odds on favorite to win, though the undisputed heavyweight champion will have something to say about that.

Lennox Lewis dominated Tyson last time they fought and will aim to get into this bout with the same mentality that he exited boxing with all those years ago. Tyson was the underdog at 2.75 last time these two fought, when Lewis defend his WBC, IBF, IBO, and The Ring titles.

Lewis won the fight with an eighth-round knockout. However, he hasn’t competed since 2003 and hasn’t been as active as Tyson. While Tyson doesn’t look the same as he did once upon a time, he has certainly been training.

It will be interesting to see if ring rust has affected Lewis and to see how Tyson has improved since his last fight. Be sure to tune in for this one.

We cannot be sure what will happen with odds as we approach the event. Many criticisms were drawn from the last bout against Roy Jones Jr. as they felt that “Iron” Mike wasn’t looking for the knockout, which disappointed fans.

Mike will likely remain favorite, as he’s the only fighter we’ve seen in recent years. It’s been almost two decades since Lewis stepped into the ring.

If it goes like the last fight, we are unlikely to see a knockout, rather the two champs battling it out and scoring points throughout the fight. Tyson's explosive style lends to the idea that he will tire, but with the training, he’s putting in we can see it going the distance.

Tyson is bobbing about and maneuvering close into his opponents, delivering the kind of shots we are used to seeing from a young Tyson. Let’s see if Tyson unleashes this time around—either way take him to win on points.
