Entering the USA Grand Prix F1, the only hope that Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas maintains of winning the world title is to win the race. Any other finish for Bottas and the titles goes to Lewis Hamilton for the fifth year in a row.

F1 USA Grand Prix Predictions

Hamilton has owned this race. Establishing himself as a legend of motor sports, the British driver has captured the Formula One US GP on six occasions - in 2007, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.

His four-year run of success was interrupted last year by Finland’s Kimi Raikkonen. But Hamilton hasn’t gone two races in a row without a USA Grand Prix win since 2005-06.

  • Sure Bet: Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes (2.85)

The Favorite For USA Grand Prix

Based on the history of this race, coupled with his chance to win yet another Formula One world title, it’s difficult to consider backing anyone in this race beyond Hamilton.

He’s coming to the Formula One USA Grand Prix off a victory at the Mexican Grand Prix. His 83 career wins are second all-time in F1.

Hamilton has stood atop the podium 10 times in 18 races this season.

He posted 11 wins last year and nine victories in 2017. The five-time world champ is also poised to to turn the NAFTA sweep this season. He’s also won the Canadian Grand Prix in 2019. Yes, he is our best free pick for this Sunday's race.

The Best Bet For USA Grand Prix

Bottas desperately needs to win the race to keep his faint title hopes alive. However, he’s never finished better than fifth in the USA Grand Prix F1. Raikkonen did win here in 2018 but that was when he was driving for Ferrari and not in his current ride with Alfa Romeo.

Sebastien Vettel won the US GP F1 in 2013. More recently, he took the pole in Japan and won in Singapore. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc has earned the pole position in five of the past six races.

He turned the fastest lap last week in Mexico and won in Belgium and Italy.

The Longshot For USA Grand Prix

Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing-Honda has wins this year in Germany and Austria. He claimed the pole in Hungary, and turned the fastest laps in the races at all three of those circuits.

He’s also been all around the podium at the Formula One USA GP in recent years. Verstappen finished second last year to Raikkonen.

He was fourth in 2017, sixth in 2016 and third in 2015. If Bottas isn’t in contention and Hamilton knows the title is his, this race could fall wide open. Verstappen might be the one to pick up the pieces.

For The Love Of God, Don't Bet On These Drivers

It might seem like a good idea to play a hunch bet on Canadian Lance Stroll, since he’s the only North American regular on the circuit. Don’t do it.

Stroll has one points finish all season, a fourth in the German GP. Since then, he hasn’t finished better than ninth and has ended up 10th or worse in six of the last seven races.

Danish driver Kevin Magnussen of Haas-Ferrari has finished last in the F1 USA GP two years in a row.

F1 USA Grand Prix Race Details

The Sunday, Nov. 3 USA Grand Prix will be held for the eighth successive year at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.

But the race has known many homes and has gone into hiding one more than one occasion since it was born in 1908. France's Louis Wagner won the inaugural race in a Fiat over a public road course in Savannah, Georgia.

Over its 48-year history, the F1 USA GP has been held at 10 different locations. The event has also gone on hiatus several times - from 1917-57, from 1981-88, from 1992-99, and again from 2008-11. In 2010, Austin signed a 10-year deal to play host to the race beginning in 2012.
