The New Rangers seem to be on a backslide. Since making the Stanley Cup finals a few years ago, they have done progressively worse since then. Right now, all signs point to the rest of the East catching up to them in talent. Right now, both Pittsburgh and Washington are better, with the Islanders nipping at their heels. As a franchise, they have won 4 Stanley Cups.

The Rangers took the trophy in 1927–28, 1932–33, 1939–40, 1993–94. They have also won 2 conference championships and 9 division titles. They have seen a number of great players over the years. This includes names like Rod Gilbert, Brian Leetch, Jean Ratelle, Andy Bathgate, Mark Messier, Walt Tkaczuk, Ron Greschner, Steve Vickers, Vic Hadfield and Adam Graves.

New York Rangers’ Standings

Bet On New York Rangers’ Games

The Rangers are becoming a forgotten team in the East. The top levels are better, and the middle of the pack seems poised to overtake them. This is why the lost in the first round of the NHL playoffs, with no reason to see them climbing back to the finals, without a shakeup.

Last summer, high hopes arrived with LW Viktor Stalberg, RW Emerson Etem, D Raphael Diaz, and C Jarret Stoll. But the Rangers never found their stride.  Henrik Lundqvist is just about as good as you’re going to get in the pipes. Many experts feel that the Rangers will always have a shot, so long as Lundqvist stays upright.

But, the team has come under a lot of fire, particularly from the bench. Alain Vigneault has been heavily criticized (it is New York, after all) for several questionable lineup decisions.

The Rangers will still be good, maybe even 100 points level good, but they’re going to struggle at some point. When teams struggle like that, they lose to a lot of lower-ranked teams that they should be destroying.

Keep an eye on them. Good bettors should be able to read trends and predict when the Rangers go down to one of these lower-ranked teams.
