The late 70s and early 80s were a great time to be an Islander fan. More recently, not so much. As a franchise, the team has won 4 Stanley Cups (1979–80, 1980–81, 1981–82, 1982–83), as well as five conference championships and 6 division titles. They have made the playoffs in 2 of the last three seasons, after a stretch of 5 non-playoffs seasons in a row. They have seen several great players over the years.
This includes names like Ed Westfall, Clark Gillies, Denis Potvin, Brent Sutter, Patrick Flatley, Bryan McCabe, Trevor Linden, Kenny Jonsson, Michael Peca, Alexei Yashin, Bill Guerin, Doug Weight, Mark Streit and John Tavares.

Bet On New York Islanders’ Games
If you’re going to bet on the Islanders next year, it’s a safe bet they’re going to be rock solid again during the regular season, and likely put up another 100 points in the standings. But in the east, we don’t see the Penguins, Rangers or Capitals getting any worse any time soon, so the Islanders will have to improve. If they don’t, they will get leapfrogged by the likes of the East’s Philly or Carolina.
But always remember that in the NHL, the best teams are not that much better than the bad teams, statistically speaking. The salary cap does a decent job of ensuring the talent around the league is reasonably well distributed. In 2015-2016, Washington won a league-high 56 out of their 82 games (68%). On the other side of things, the Leafs were by far the worst team and still managed to win 29 (35%) of their games. This means the best teams will win two out of three games they play, but the bad teams will still win 1 out of three.
So, if you’re going to bet on a weak team like the Leafs against the Islanders, you may not see the same odds you’d be expecting if you’re using to betting on the NBA or NFL.
