Toronto Maple Leafs
The Toronto Maple Leafs began life without their top scorer Auston Matthews, on Monday night, losing 3-1 to the Flames. After scoring four or more goals in five of their first seven games, the Leafs have topped the four-goal plateau only once in their last five.
The Dallas Stars enters play against the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night with a .500. The Stars are in the midst of a six-game road trip (all against Eastern Conference team), the longest road trip the Stars have all season. The Stars need to pick up points during this road trip, as the Central Division looks like the best Division in hockey this season. Four teams in the Central entered play with 15 points or more on Tuesday, two more than all other four Division combined.
Dallas and Toronto will play for the second and final time this season on Thursday night (barring a matchup in the Stanley Cup Finals). The Leafs scored seven goals on the road against the Stars on route to a 7-4 victory. The win is their fourth straight against the Stars.
