Golden State Warriors @ Toronto Raptors Odds

Warriors @ Raptors Game Preview

Golden State Warriors

Life without Steph Curry continues to be a struggle for the Warriors who are only 5-5 without him. Sandwiched between recent victories was a four-game slide that included blowout losses against Oklahoma City and Houston. And there's the drama between Kevin Durant and Draymond Green (now out with injury). The Warriors are vulnerable and facing a Raptors team that is peaking.

Toronto Raptors

Opposite to Golden State, the Raptors are healthy and firing on all cylinders. Kawhi Leonard is playing like an MVP candidate alongside Kyle Lowry. The emergence of Pascal Siakam has given the Raptors another frontcourt threat while Jonas Valanciunas and Serge Ibaka are both flourishing at the centre position. Now is finally Toronto's time to get over the Warriors.

Game Snippet

The Raptors haven't beaten Golden State since the 2013-14 season, but they have played them close in their last three home games. But without Curry and Green, the Raptors are getting a can't-miss opportunity to end the losing skid against Golden State.

Point Spread Prediction

Toronto has the best record in the NBA right now, but they are only a 50-50 team when going against the spread. The Raptors are 5-6 ATS at home, but they are much better covering against Golden State though they haven't been a favourite against this Warriors team.

Golden State is a shell of itself without Curry. Green's absence will also hurt as he is their best defender. Toronto's big-four upfront: Leonard, Siakam, Ibaka, and Valanciunas will be tough to stop for Golden State. Durant and Klay Thompson will be dangerous, but Toronto's solid perimeter defence will be ready.

Covering nine points will be no issue for Toronto. Golden State showed they can still score in their last two victories, but they're now against an elite team. If their offence shows up, the Raptors will fire right back. But it's also likely they get outclassed from the beginning en route to a Toronto blowout.

Pick: Toronto Raptors (-9.0)

Over/Under Prediction

The average total between Toronto and Golden State in their last three games in Toronto is 240.3. In their last two, both teams hit the 120's. This type of scoring is unsustainable and without Curry, Golden State is not quite as hot. In nine games without him, they have fallen to 18th in offensive rating (107.7) and 13th in true shooting per cent (55.8%).

Golden State has also just scored 107.3 points a game without Curry (23rd in the NBA). Toronto will still score a lot. They have cashed the over in 14 of their 21 games including five of their last seven. This team is rolling and Golden State might be playing catchup through the game.

Toronto will uphold its share of the totals, but Golden State is doubtful. Despite the modest totals, the under is a more likely scenario.

Pick: Under +224.0
