Calgary Flames Home Schedule
Since moving to Calgary in 1980, the Calgary Flames have been overshadowed by their provincial rivals, the Oilers but have a rich history for themselves. The Flames won a Stanley Cup in 1989 and almost won another in 2004 but have barely made it past the first round since. They were anchored by prolific scorers like Theo Fleury, Jarome Iginla, and Al MacInnis and now have a young core of players ready to bring Cowtown back to its glory years.
Hotels Near Scotiabank Saddledome
The Saddledome is a bit on the edge of the outskirts of downtown Calgary but there are still great hotels within a kilometre. Hotel Le Germain Calgary is a beautiful hotel that is an attraction in its own right. Calgary Mariott Downtown Hotel is consistently rated highly and has some of the best-reviewed staff and cleanliness. The Hotel Arts is the closest among these three venues and has great customer service and food.
Calgary Stampeders Home Schedule
Watch out! The Stampeders are running through the competition. That certainly is the case in recent years as they’ve accumulated the league’s best cumulative record in the last decade and have won three Grey Cups (eight in total). The “Stamps” are the third-oldest active franchise in the CFL having officially been founded in 1945. Led by the finest front office, the Stamps built a dominant franchise that consistently features a great QB, elite Canadian players, and a winning mentality.
Hotels Near McMahon Stadium
Located to the north side of Calgary, the McMahon Stadium is conveniently placed close to the highway along with several hotels. The Best Western Plus Village Park Inn is a moderately priced mid-tier hotel suitable for a family trip with its pleasant staff and colourful accommodations. The Holiday Inn Express is a bit further but has spacious rooms with free breakfast on the weekends, which is when the Stamps usually play. It’s a short drive away but the Centro Motel is one of the province’s best budget hotels. For cheap, you get free breakfast, a stylish room, and excellent staff.
