Tigers vs. Astros: Strikeout Kings meet in Sunday MLB action
Happy Cinco De Mayo Eh! Simple arithmetic has us all over the Motor City Cats when the Detroit Tigers battle the Houston Astros at 4:10 PM EDT on Sunday, May 5, 2013, from Minute Maid Park in Texas. Justin Verlander “The Vaporizer” has averaged 6.2 K’s per start during his Major League career. The Houston Astros are leading Major League Baseball with 310 strikeouts in their first 31 games this season – we just heard a Cha-Ching baby!
Detroit Tigers: Look to pull away in American League Central
Despite playing in the worst division in the Major League Baseball, the Detroit Tigers haven’t been able to pull away from the pack so far this season. Sitting at 18-11, the Tigers are up on the Kansas City Royals by just 0.5 games in the AL Central. We don’t expect the race to be close at all come seasons end as the Tigers were our preseason pick to win the American League Championship. In fact, beating up the likes of the Houston Astros and Cleveland Indians during the first half of May should have the Tigers comfortably in first in short order.
Strikeout Ace vs. Strikeout Kings: Verlander set to vaporize the Astros
Although his strikeouts are down slightly so far during the 2013 MLB season, Justine Verlander will pad his stats today. After leading the Majors in punchouts the last two seasons (250 in 2011 and 239 in 2011) The Vaporizer currently sits 16th with just 41 K’s in six appearances. The good news is that the free-swinging Houston Astros are Verlander’s opponent today. Houston hitters are on pace to strikeout 1,600 times this season – Arizona with 1,529 strikeouts in 2010 is the MLB record. Load up on the Motown Cats and the -260 ML at the Bodog.ca sportsbook!

Handicappers who convince themselves - and anyone else who will listen - that the Kentucky Derby is just another race probably haven't cashed too many tickets on the first Saturday in May. The truth is people should bet the Derby differently because of just how unlike any other race it is.
