The Viral Roundup – Bear Market Edition

The Viral Roundup – Bear Market Edition
San Diego drop to 2-7 in front of a primetime audience, Chicago keeps Philly winless on the season and the Timberwolves score an impressive win in Atlanta. Here's the minty fresh world of sports you're waking up to on November 10, 2015.

Did You Hear?

The Chargers continue to limp along in 2015 and they acquired another wound to lick on Monday night. San Diego blew a 16-7 fourth quarter lead to drop a 22-19 primetime contest to Chicago. (The Bears were a three-and-a-half point underdog heading in.) Jay Cutler threw for 345 yards and 2 TDs in the win and Jeremy Langford hit paydirt on the ground to give the Bears the win. San Diego has lost their last five games, a nasty tailspin after a servicable 2-2 start.

Did You See?

UFC Fight Night: Sao Paulo was days ago but we can’t stop thinking of this absolutely brutal knockout served up by Thomas Almeida. The undefeated Brazilian bantamweight landed a number of incredible strikes in his KO defeat of Anthony Birchak, but that closer? Wow! It was an outing that earned Almeida the evening’s Performance of the Night honor. Soak it in below. Speaking of MMA intrigue, UFC 193 goes down this weekend in Melbourne, Australia. Ronda Rousey (an overwhelming -2000 favourite) will defend her bantamweight title against decorated boxer Holly Holm and Polish phenom Joanna Jedrzejczyk (a -2250 favourite) puts her strawweight belt on the line versus Valerie Letourneau.

Did You Know?

- The Timberwolves improved to a flawless 4-0 on the road this year thanks to a 117-107 thumping of Atlanta. Minnesota, an eight-and-a-half point road underdog, enjoyed a 33 point night from rising star Andrew Wiggins and 12 rebounds collected by Karl-Anthony Towns in the win. Jeff Teague put 24 points on the board for the Hawks in a losing cause.

- The 76ers are still winless on the year. Lowly Philadephia drops to 0-7 after getting crushed 111-88 by Chicago on Monday night. Nikola Mirotic scored 22 points for the Bulls and Pau Gasol notched six blocks in this Eastern Conference smackdown. Chicago’s off until Friday when they host the Hornets, meanwhile Philly has the Toronto Raptors coming to town tomorrow.

- The New England Patriots will have to move on without Dion Lewis. The 25-year-old running back is out for the season after suffering a torn left ACL against Washington in Week 9. Lewis has been a valuable contributor for New England as a dual rushing/recieving threat and collected four TDs for the Pats in this year’s campaign. New England will look to go 9-0 this weekend in a road battle with the Giants. The Patriots are currently favoured by seven points.
