The Cards are currently six games up on the Pirates in the NL Central, while the Nats find themselves 6.5 games behind the Mets in the NL East. Michael Wacha takes to the mound for the Cardinals tonight and the Nationals will counter with Max Scherzer.

It’s a quick combo of devastating KOs that have replay appeal. The night’s big fight features flyweight champ Demetrious Johnson defending his title against John Dodson. Johnson’s pegged by Vegas as a major -500 favourite to win.
Elsewhere in MMA talk, Ronda Rousey has revealed that she’d like to wrap up her time in the Octagon in just a few years. On Joe Rogen’s podcast, the bantamweight phenomenon said she has no interest in fighting deep into her 30s. The champ does acknowledge that there is some unfinished business her UFC career and that she wouldn’t mind facing Cris Cyborg is she can make weight for a bout. Rousey’s next challenge comes at UFC 193 against Holly Holm. When the fight was announced, Rousey was determined to be a gargantuan -1250 favourite.

- The Philadelphia Phillies have broken free of a nasty ten game losing streak and they did it against the best team in the NL East. First baseman Darin Ruf went 3-5 with six RBI as Philadelphia (a +215 moneyline road underdog) pummeled the Mets 14-8. The two clubs square off again tonight at Citi Field with New York listed as a -250 moneyline home favourite.
- Recently released ex-Bill Fred Jackson could have a new place to call home and its one with some serious Super Bowl potential. The veteran rusher was in Seattle yesterday to meet with the franchise and take a physical. If signed by the Seahawks (who are currently a 13/2 Super Bowl shot on the Futures board) the move would reunite Jackson with his former Bills teammate Marshawn Lynch. Jackson ran for 5,646 yards in his Buffalo stay with 30 rushing TDs.
- Patrick Kane is currently under investigation in relation to an incident that occurred in Hamburg, New York over the offseason and the potential for rape charges has not halted interest from teams looking to sign the Blackhawks forward. The Chicago Sun-Times reports that five clubs have expressed that they would be willing to trade for Kane if Chicago would like to deal him.
