Saturday NHL Schedule: Lowly Sabres Host Struggling Bruins

A struggling Boston Bruins squad shuffles off to Buffalo to battle the Sabres as part of the ten game Saturday night National Hockey League schedule. While we are confident that the Boys for Beantown will get their act together – the same can’t be said for the toothless Sabres. Puck drop for this NHL Atlantic Division clash is slated for 7:00 PM ET on October 18, 2014, from the First Niagara Center Arena in Buffalo, New York. Load up on Boston.

Boston Bruins: Looking to get past early season struggles

As perennial playoff contenders, Boston finds themselves in unchartered waters early in the 2014-15 NHL season. Sitting with a 2-4-0 record, the Bruins are 12th overall in the Eastern Conference and they are coming off of a 6-4 drubbing by their bitter rivals Montreal on Thursday night. The light at the end of the tunnel could very well be the four goals Boston posted versus the Canadiens as they had scored just seven total goals in their first five games. Tuukka Rask was chased from the net in the Habs loss but he has a history of rebounding from off nights and we expect the same tonight. This is a perfect opportunity for Boston to get their slumping season back on track.

Buffalo Sabres: Top contenders in the NHL 2015 Draft Lottery race

While they will have some competition from teams like Carolina, Edmonton and Florida, Buffalo has a great shot at getting the top pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Already 1-4-0 during the young NHL season, the Sabres have been outscored by a combined 18-8 final count. Their lone victory was a 4-3 SO win against the Hurricanes who are equally inept. Buffalo lost 1-0 to Florida last night as the Panthers earned their first win of the season. Home ice has not been an advantage for the Sabres as Buffalo is 0-3 and have been outscored 9-2 at the First Niagara Center this season. The Sabres lead the NHL with an average of 38.2 shots allowed per game and they are last with 21.8 chances of their own. That has led to Buffalo’s 1.40 goals per game versus 3.60 goals allowed mark.

Boston vs Buffalo Betting Advice: Although there hasn’t been much to like about Boston so far this season, there’s a whole lot less to like about Buffalo. The goals will come for the Bruins and they are playing well defensively - allowing just 23.5 shots against per game. It’s not something we like to do with road teams but we will lay the puck line and back Boston with a 500 unit wager at the William Hill online sportsbook tonight.
