Pittsburgh vs Calgary: Sidney Crosby Makes a Rare Appearance in Cowtown
Pittsburgh Penguins: Relatively flightless in recent contests
Some teams would kill for a bad run like the 6-5-3 streak Pittsburgh is currently riding but that’s rare low-down air for the Penguins. Though pummelled by injuries and illnesses this season, Pittsburgh remains solidly in the chase for first in the Eastern Conference – just five points behind Tampa Bay. Crosby, Malkin, Fleury and Crew are experienced veterans and they understand that the real playoff push is about to begin. The Pens posted a 4-3 win at the Dome last season and they won 3-1 in the Steel City back in December this season – without Sid the Kid in both contests.
Calgary Flames: Reigniting the Stampeded City with a long-awaited postseason push
It’s not good to talk about droughts in Southern Alberta. The farmers don’t like it nor do Flames fans. Calgary is one of the surprise teams in the NHL this season – arguably the second biggest behind the New York Islanders. Flame-outs recently, Calgary hasn’t had a playoff sniff in five years but they are solidly placed in sixth overall in the West (six points ahead of Colorado in ninth) and second in the Pacific Division. The Flames are 16 points behind the 77 they posted last season – with 30 game to play. This is a gritty, up tempo, find a win to win Flames team and they’ll be ready.
Flames vs Penguins Prediction: Bob Hartley is one of the best bench bosses in the NHL and he has told his players; it’s Crosby and the Penguins, not the Pope, coming to town. The Catholics in the crowd will get it. Seriously though, Hartley, who is always good for a few quotes, will have his young guns firing tonight. Whether it will be enough to harpoon the Penguins is a close call. As such, we are backing Pittsburgh with a 300 unit wager on the SportsInteraction money line price. The SIA wagering windows are wide open >>> click on the image below to get into the game.
