Patriots and Saints are Double Digit Chalk During NFL Week 3 Action
New England vs Oakland: Patriots will pummel the Raiders
Following a Week 1 loss, 33-20 to the Dolphins in Miami, New England rolled into Minnesota and pounded the Vikings 30-7 during Week 2 action. The newly revamped Patriots defense shined last weekend as they picked off Vikings QB Matt Cassel four times while adding six sacks. A blocked punt special teams TD and 101 rush yards with one TD from RB Stevan Ridley was more than enough to make up for a 14/21 149 yard (1 TD) passing day out of QB Tom Brady. Oakland is 0-2 as they have been outscored 49-28 in games versus the Jets (19-14) and Texans (30-14) with 21 of their points being the “oh, by the way” fourth quarter variety. The Raiders travel to the east coast for the second time in three weeks – a serious disadvantage for a bad Silver & Black squad.
New Orleans vs Minnesota: Saints need a win vs shorthanded Vikings
Starting the season 0-2 is never a good thing but not all is lost for New Orleans as the Saints have four winnable contests ahead of them. A four game run against teams that own a combined 3-6 record comes in advance of a showdown with Green Bay in Week 8 and then a huge NFC South division clash with Carolina. The Saints have lost in OT to Atlanta and on a last second field goal by Cleveland as the defense let them down late in both road contests. Minnesota is reeling from the RB Adrian Peterson issue and their aforementioned pummelling by the Patriots will be repeated on Sunday as the Saints play their home opener at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
NFL Week 3 Parlay Ticket: As mentioned in the opening, we are going to load up on the bloated William Hill money lines here. A 2000 unit investment tying the Patriots and Saints together will produce a return that’s a smidgen over 25% of what appears to be “free” money as New England and New Orleans both roll to victory.
