Ottawa and Vancouver Host Doubleheader CFL Sunday Contests
CFL schedule makers must have a plan we don’t understand
Weird and wacky continues to be the path of the 2014 Canadian Football League schedule as the CFL heads into NFL territory with Sunday and Monday games. We understand and support the Labor Day Monday tradition but of the first 35 games played – just two were Sunday games. After the two today, there are another eight more over the final eleven weeks of the season. Shouldn’t they have been using the non-NFL Sundays during the first half of the season? OK – we digress – so let’s get to the action as we see a “load up” opportunity on the horizon..
Calgary vs Ottawa: TD Place hosts Stampeders V Redblacks battle
In a rematch of their meeting just 14 days ago, a Stamps 38-17 romp in Calgary, the Redblacks are going to get tuned in again today. The rich get richer as a host of players are slated to return to the Stampeders roster – most notably RB Jon Cornish the reigning CFL Most Outstanding Player. That means the import rule shifts os veteran WR Nick Lewis will also draw back in. Lewis will be playing with a chip on his shoulder in this contest. Similar to our thoughts in our last Calgary vs Ottawa prediction – the CowTown Crew is the vastly superior squad here.
Riders vs Lions: BC front office offers a free ticket WIN guarantee
Though it will be locker room “billboard material” for the ‘Riders, BC Lions CEO Dennis Skulsky has guaranteed the Leo’s will win today – or everyone gets a free ticket to one of the Lions remaining home games. This was a reaction to Roughriders fans buying billboards expressing that Green is the new Orange. While the free tickets is an added twist we like – these predictions are getting boring and two things happen 1) they put undue pressure on the players and 2) they fire up the opponents. The ‘Riders are rolling – get those free ducats ready for distribution.
