New York Rangers vs Vancouver Canucks NHL Playoff Contenders Coastal Clash

New York Rangers vs Vancouver Canucks NHL Playoff Contenders Coastal Clash
East meets West as the New York Rangers visit the Vancouver Canucks during National Hockey League action tonight. Neither team has played particularly well recently as New York has dropped into second place in the Metropolitan Division while Vancouver has tenuous grip on third place in the Pacific Division. As the last matchup on the Wednesday night NHL betting board at the Bet365 sportsbook, puck drop is slated for 10:00 PM ET on December 9, 2015, at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia. We like the Rangers straight up here.

New York Rangers: Lacking Cup contender form recently

After steamrolling out of the NHL starting gate, paving the way to a 16-3-2 record, New York has run into a rough patch as the Rangers are 2-4-1 over their last seven contests. Potent on offense early on, with 3.15 goals per game during their winning run, New York has struggled to light the lamp lately as they are averaging just two goals per game during their mini slide. The Rangers did manage to pot four goals in each of their last two wins, including a 4-1 victory at home vs Ottawa on Sunday, but the Blueshirts were outscored by a 16-5 margin during their five recent losses.

Vancouver Canucks: Lowest win total amongst the 16 NHL playoff positioned teams

Sitting with a 10-11-8 overall record – Vancouver owns the lowest win total amongst the 16 teams that currently occupy a playoff position.  Further to that, every team in the Western Conference has more wins than Vancouver who have relied on eight extra time points to hang on to third place in the very weak Pacific Division. After a solid season start, the Canucks earned at least one point in ten of their first twelve games, Vancouver has stumbled to a 4-9-2 recent record. Ending a five game winless streak, the ‘Nucks bashed the visiting Buffalo Sabres 5-2 on Monday night.

Rangers vs Canucks NHL Call: Henrik Lundqvist (14-5-3 GAA 1.99) will make his 23rd start of the season in net for New York tonight. The King closed November slightly out of sorts, allowing 12 goals during three starts, but he’s given up just one goal in both of his two outings in December. Ryan Miller (8-9-6 GAA 2.57) is making his 24th start as he gets the call for the Canucks. Miller, who owns a 14-8-5 career record vs New York, ended a personal three-game losing streak as he stopped 32 of 34 shots in the win over Buffalo. The Rangers have outscored the Canucks by a 12-2 margin while posting three straight wins in Vancouver and Lundqvist was between the pipes in each of those matches. New York being the better team, and liking the fair price, we’ll ride the Rangers with a 500 unit wager on the money line odds posted at the Bet365 online sportsbook.
