National Hockey League Championship Stanley Cup Futures

National Hockey League regular season action is temporary on pause as the best of the best players in the NHL travel to Sochi to play for their respective countries in the Winter Olympics. We thought this would be a perfect time to check out the 2013-14 Stanley Cup Championship futures prices currently posted at the William Hill online sportsbook.

Pittsburgh Penguins: Top favorites in the East and Overall

Sitting with a 40-15-3 record (83 points) the Pittsburgh Penguins are currently the top chalk (+550) to capture the Stanley Cup in the entire NHL. What’s not to like? Boasting the leagues top scorer, Sidney Crosby (78 points in 58 games) plus Evgeni Malkin (58 points in 47 games) and Chris Kunitz (55 points in 58 games) the Pens own a five point lead on the Boston Bruins in the chase for the Eastern Conference regular season title. The Bruins (+900) and Tampa Bay Lightning (+1600) round out the top three contenders in the relatively weak Eastern Conference.

Anaheim Ducks lead a slew of Western Conference Cup Contenders

Apart from the Penguins and Bruins, a group of six Western Conference clubs round out the top eight Stanley Cup contenders on the big board at William Hill. The Anaheim Ducks (41-14-5) are the overall leaders in the NHL with 87 points and they lead the way in the West with a +600 money line. Defending Cup Champions Chicago (+650) and the surging St. Louis Blues (+700) are right behind the Ducks. San Jose (+1000) along with Colorado and Los Angeles – who both sport a +1600 money line price, round out the Gang of Six from the Wild, Wild West. NHL Championship Futures Odds: Get ‘em while you still can at these prices With the NHL now on a 16 day break, and barring any serious injuries over in Sochi, these prices should stay in place until the final quarter of the season begins on February 25, 2014. After NHL puck actions resumes though, the numbers could and most likely will change rapidly. If you want to back your favorite Cup contender at these somewhat inflated prices, that currently favor the bettors, the time to act is now. Speaking of acting – we just dropped a Borden on the high flying St. Louis Blues to capture the 2013-14 NHL Stanley Cup Championship.
