Forget about the chalk – it’s been dusted off the betting board at SportsInteraction. With the top two National League World Series favorites Los Angeles and Washington now on the sidelines, St. Louis and San Francisco will battle in the National League Championship Series. The Cardinals (2011) and Giants (2010 & 2012) have won three of the last four Fall Classics and both teams should be strongly considered to win the title again. The NLCS begins at 8:07 PM ET on October 11, 2014, at Busch Stadium in St. Louis Missouri.
SF Giants are primed for another trip to the Fall Classic
Taking the long road to the World Series, San Francisco put away Pittsburgh in the NL Wild Card game before whacking Washington by a 3-1 count in the NLDS. With a 4-1 rmark this season, the Giants are now 26-10 in 36 postseason games over the last five years. This veteran squad looked impressive as they took out the Nationals who owned the top team pitching ERA (3.03) during the regular season. After going down 3-1 in the 2012 NLCS, SF reeled off three straight wins by a 20-1 combined count vs St. Louis to advance to and win the World Series.
Equally equipped Cardinals open at home looking for NLCS revenge
Back in the NLCS for a fourth straight season, St. Louis needs to erase the aforementioned meltdown, plus their 4-2 World Series loss to Boston last year, and concentrate on the task at hand. The Cards have the experience to do so as they have posted a 30-22 record over ten playoff series dating back to 2011. After hitting just 105 home runs (an MLB 29th worst) during the regular season, the Cardinals bashed seven big flies to shock the preseason World Series favorite Los Angeles Dodgers with a 3-1 NLD series win. We expect an entertaining series here.
MLB 2014 NLCS Prediction: The season series between these teams was over before the All-Star break and was won 4-3 by San Francisco. The combined final score was 30-20 SF and included three road wins by the Giants. After careful consideration, we like the Bay Area Boys to represent the National League in the Fall Classic. Being as such, we have wagered 300 units on the San Fran NLCS price posted at SportsInteraction, 100 units on SFG to win the series 4-2 plus 100 units on the Giants to own a 2-1 NLCS led after the first three games.
