2014 FIFA World Cup knock-out round action continues today as France is slated to face Nigeria while Germany is set to battle Algeria. The Beautiful Game rolls on in Brazil as medium favorite France hits the pitch at 12:00 PM ET and then Germany is thick chalk in their game at 4:00 PM ET on June 30, 2014. We expect two more thrilling matches today.
Nigeria vs France: Les Bleus look to regain high scoring gear
Following 3-0 and 5-2 group stage wins over Honduras and Switzerland, France sustained a power outage as they earned a 0-0 draw in their match versus Ecuador to close out Group E action. Assured of advancing to the 2nd Stage – France let off the gas and rested some stars in their third match. Nigeria went 1-1-1 in Group F play as they opened with a 0-0 draw versus Iran, then registered a 1-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina before falling 3-2 to mighty Argentina. We see France having too much firepower for the Super Eagles to handle in this contest.
Algeria vs Germany: Die Mannschaft idling since Portugal pummeling
Though they went undefeated in what many were calling “The Group of Death” Germany has yet to reproduce the dominating form they showed in their 4-0 pounding of Portugal during the opening match of Group G play. That said, a 2-2 draw versus Ghana and a 1-0 win over the USA was more than enough to get Thomas Muller & Crew into the knockout round. Algeria is thrilled to be appearing in their first ever World Cup Round of 16 as the Desert Foxes went 1-1-1 in Group H action to finish second behind Belgium. Their magical ride around Brazil ends here.
