CFL Week Two Schedule Wraps Up With Eskimos vs Roughriders

Week Two wagering action in the Canadian Football League wraps up with the Edmonton Eskimos heading east to face the Roughriders. This is the first West vs West battle of the young CFL season and both teams come in with a 1-0 record. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 PM ET on Sunday, July 8, from Mosaic Stadium at Taylor Field in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Eskimos Get Their Kicks In Week One Victory Over Toronto

Although it wasn’t pretty – a win is a win, as Edmonton placekicker Grant Shaw went four for four against the Argos in Week One. A rushing touchdown from Hugh Charles was the only other Eskimo points in their opening game 19-15 win over Toronto. In his first start as the full time pivot in Edmonton, QB Steven Jyles was a shakey 21of 36 for 236 yards and one INT. He will need to get better in a hurry with the suddenly explosive Riders up next. Apart from being on the road – we feel the Eskimos are up against a more talented team in this one.

Roughriders Roll To A Surprise Season Opening Win Over Hamilton

Perhaps the most shocking final, plus the biggest blowout during Week One action, saw Saskatchewan beat up on the Tiger-Cats 43-16 on the road in the Steel City. After going 5-13 during the 2011 CFL campaign have the Riders improved that much – or was Hamilton an overrated preseason favorite? Gang Green bent but did not break during their season opener. A similar effort on Sunday night will make them 2-0 as the Green Rider faithful celebrate their home opener this weekend – before facing the ferocious BC Lions in Week Three CFL action.
