Bet On Los Angeles Rams’ Games

Playing in the upstart American Football League, the Rams franchise first hit the gridiron as the Cleveland Rams way back in 1936. Joining the NFL one year later, the Rams were not very impressive as they went 30-51-4 during their first eight years. After going 4-6 in 1944, the Rams morphed into a juggernaut as they posted a 9-1 record and defeated the Washington Redskins during the 1945 NFL Championship game. A year later, the franchise was moved to Los Angeles and became the first professional sports team to be located west of Kansas City, Missouri.

Settling into their new home, at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, the Rams were a middling 18-15-2 during their first three years in Southern California. Ramping up to a powerhouse, Los Angeles went 56-23-4 over the next seven seasons (1949-55) though they posted a dismal 1-3 record during NFL Championship matches. An eleven-year playoff drought began during the 1956 season and ended in 1967 when LAR went 11-1-2 in the Western Coastal Division. The Rams lost 28-7 to Green Bay in the conference playoffs, and the Packers went on to claim Super Bowl II.

Contenders or pretenders, depending on one’s point of view, Los Angeles earned a playoff berth during 16 of the first 24 seasons of the Super Bowl era while based in California. During that time (1966-89), the Rams advanced to the NFL Championship just once as the Pittsburgh Steelers pounded them 31-19 during Super Bowl XIV. After they were unable to secure a new stadium deal in the State of California, following a five year run of futility during which they posted a 23-57 record and their fan support declined, the Rams franchise was moved to St. Louis, Missouri.

Rams Roam From Los Angeles to St. Louis and Back Again

Continuing to struggle, the Rams went 22-42 during their first four seasons in the Show-Me State. Things turned around after that, though, as the Greatest Show on Turf was born and St. Louis earned a postseason berth in five of six years from 1999 to 2004. During that run, the Rams claimed Super Bowl XXXIV with a 23-16 victory over the Tennessee Titans. They also lost a thrilling 20-17 battle versus the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXVI. St. Louis went eleven years without a playoff berth, from 2005 through 2015, fueling another franchise relocation.

Stadium issues were a primary reason the Rams moved back to Los Angeles before the 2016 NFL season. Returning to the LA Memorial Coliseum, the Rams are slated to begin NFL 2020 in their permanent home in the LA Stadium and Entertainment District at Hollywood Park in Inglewood, CA. One wonders if that move will finally give the Rams a true home-field advantage. At the time of publishing, on February 1, 2019, the Rams are getting set to battle New England in Super Bowl 53. Bet on the Los Angeles Rams at these top-rated online bookmakers.
