Tottenham vs Manchester City 2016 Preview And Prediction

Tottenham vs Manchester City 2016 Preview And Prediction
A very intriguing encounter presents itself this Sunday when Manchester City goes to White Hart Lane to take on the Spurs. Looking at Man City's early season schedule, one could view this as Pep's most difficult game thus far.

Manchester City have had an easy road through the first leg of their Premier League season, but that will change this Sunday. Many readers may point to the Manchester Derby and see that as a big test, and though I concede it was a huge win, it was mostly due to the fact that Manchester United was a no show for first half of that game. When they kickoff at White Hart Lane, they will know they are in a game from minute 1 and it will be interesting to see how they respond.

Since Harry Kane’s injury, Spurs are playing well. Things seem to be clicking and Son Heung-min has found the form of his life. In their last 3 domestic games he has played every minute and they have won every game. They also just survived a mid week trip to Moscow and claimed all 3 points on the back of a goal from the aformentioned South Korean.

Man City over their last few games have been surviving more than pillaging. After winning 2 straight hotly contested affairs at the Liberty stadium against Swansea, they were finally held for the first time this season by Celtic in the Champions League; a 3-3 barnburner in which they had to erase 1 goal deficits three times.

Tottenham vs Manchester City Betting Prediction

This will be Man City’s fourth consecutive away game and with another International Break on the horizon, I think this will be their first slip of the year.

Without Kevin de Bruyne, City are not at their best and his absence is one less problem for Pochettino to game plan for. Spurs on the other hand may be welcoming back 3 of their starters on the back end as Danny Rose, Moussa Dembele and Eric Dier are all in contention giving them plenty of reinforcements.

Both managers could play similar 4-1-4-1 formations, or 4-2-3-1 depending on what they feel will give them the best shot. But certainly both teams will press high and the intensity should be there from the opening whistle which informs me that Spurs, the fitter side at the moment, and playing at home have all the opportunity to take this most elusive scalp; a Man City side which can score at will, but will give up a fair number of chances as well.

Manchester City won’t go undefeated this year. It’s too hard a task to accomplish in today’s game. As punters we need to identify the potential trip up spots for these big teams and pounce when we can. And this Sunday is a land mine.

When Pep and Poch were in Spain together they took on one another many times in the Barcelona Derby. One of Pochettino’s first victories was at the Camp Nou when his Espanyol side defeated Pep’s Barcelona in a huge  shocker. Pep, however, has only lost to Pochettino once in 9 career meetings, even if that one loss sticks out like a sore thumb.

Sergio Agureo loves this fixture. In 9 career games against Spurs, Kun has scored 10 goals and has 7-0-2 record. So the Argentine should probably remain the captain of your fantasy team.
