NHL Playoff Predictions: Anaheim Ducks vs Edmonton Oilers Game 7

NHL Playoff Predictions: Anaheim Ducks vs Edmonton Oilers Game 7
Whether it is the NBA, MLB or NHL, there isn’t anything quite like a Game 7 during the playoffs. It’s win or head home time as Edmonton is in Anaheim to battle for the right to play Nashville in the Western Conference Finals. Puck drop is scheduled for 10:00 PM ET on May 10, 2017, in Southern California.

Oilers at Ducks NHL Playoffs Game 6 Review: Edmonton 7-1

After the Oilers roasted the Ducks, 7-1 at home during Game 6, Edmonton and Anaheim meet for a final fight tonight. The Oilers were strong out the gate as they outshot the Ducks 16-8 and put the game away with a 5-0 first period barrage. Also, for this first time in this series, Edmonton won the faceoff battle by a 39-32 count. Not sure which team would show up, on either side during Game 6, we backed the OVER on this contest and pushed our overall profit to +245 units on this series.

NHL Western Conference Semifinal Series Game 7 Preview: Anaheim @ Edmonton

If given a five-goal head start, during any Anaheim vs Edmonton battle, we would take the pucks without question every time. It’s a good thing that price was not available during the Oilers Game 6 destruction of the Ducks. Edmonton scored three goals, on just six shots, and sent John Gibson to the showers at the 8:25 mark of the first period. Several Oilers had big stats on offence – including Leon Draisaitl who potted three goals and added two assists. A sparkling 34 save performance by Cam Talbot was lost in the scoring landslide as the Oilers netminder was rock solid once again.

Anaheim continues to wilt in battles late in NHL playoff series as they are now a combined 2-11 in Game 6 and 7 contests. That stretch of near 100% futility dates back to the 2009 Conference Semifinal series versus the Detroit Red Wings. Although Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf are the only players who have been constant during that run, Anaheim players have been hearing about it since they landed in SoCal. While it takes a united army to capture the Cup; a weak link can crush the dream. Goaltender John Gibson (2.99 GAA .903 SVPCT) has become the weakest link in Anaheim.

NHL Playoff Picks Today – May 10, 2017 – 50 Units EDM FT (+170) 50 Units Draw-FT (+285) @ Bodog. Save for a major question mark between the pipes in Anaheim, and dismissing the Ducks futility (0-5) in recent Game 7 tussles, we would be all over Anaheim at home here. The Ducks were 6-1 following a loss by four or more goals and they outscored their opponents by a 26-13 count in those regular season contests. Edmonton went 4-0, winning by a 21-8 margin, after they won by four or more goals this year. Bodog bookmakers are torn on this battle as Anaheim is slim (-125) money line chalk tonight. With our wager above, we end this series up +145 if the Ducks win, +280 if Edmonton wins (both in regulation) or +337.50 if the Game 7 matchup is decided in overtime.

NHL Western and Eastern Conference 2017 Stanley Cup Futures Odds Update

Then there were six as New York has joined St. Louis on the sidelines. The Rangers finished off a series of meltdowns with a 4-2 loss in Manhattan last night. We have taken the Blueshirts off our Christmas card list forever. With Game 7 on tap in the Washington vs Pittsburgh series, the Capitals (+300) have pulled into a tie with the Predators as top Stanley Cup chalk. The Penguins price grew again (+450 to +500) and Senators have joined the Pens in a tie as third favorites. Being as we have a Stanley Cup futures bet alive with the Capitals (+450) we are big fans of the DC Crew tonight.

Nashville loves that the Edmonton vs Anaheim series is going the distance as the Preds are home and healing prior to the Western Conference Finals. Although we are not sure why, the Predators NHL title odds gained some value (+275 to +300) during the past 24 hours. Bodog bookies are conflicted on the Oilers and Ducks Stanley Cup chances as they are both overall longshots with a (+600) price. Since we have an active wager on Edmonton to claim the Cup, a Capitals vs Oilers NHL Championship Final has our support. Via Facebook, tell us who you like to hoist the Cup!
