National Football League Futures Betting New England Patriots NFL 2016 Win Total

National Football League Futures Betting New England Patriots NFL 2016 Win Total
In the midst of the dog days of July, which is typically the quietest National Football League month, the ongoing Deflategate saga continues between Tom Brady and the NFL. Not overly concerned if Brady misses the first four games or not, today we look at the New England Patriots win total prices posted on the NFL futures betting board at Bodog. It’s a tough start as the Pats visit Arizona to face the Cardinals during Week One action on September 11, 2016.

New England Patriots Win Total Futures Odds and NFL Preview

While we were hoping for single digits, the 10.5 (-155) win total posted at Bodog would probably be 12.5 victories if Brady was guaranteed to start all 16 games. Long time owners of the AFC East Division, New England plays a pair of games against Miami (6-10) New York (10-6) and Buffalo (8-8) and Brady will be under center for at least four of those six contests. If he plays all six it’s a bonus.

If Brady does miss the first four games, we can see backup QB Jimmy Garoppolo leading the Pats to a 3-1 season opening record meaning New England would have to go 8-4 over their last 12 games. As mentioned, the Cardinals clash is a rough start but New England then plays three straight at Gillette Stadium against the Dolphins, Texans and Bills. Being at home is key to a 3-1 start.

Patriots Ten Non-Divisional Contests are Against a Mix of Good and Bad Teams

New England has a few contests against weaker teams in the AFC North and NFC West on their schedule this season. That includes games against Cleveland (3-13) Baltimore (5-11) Los Angeles (7-9) and San Francisco (5-11) who posted a combined 20-44 record last year. The Ravens will be better with QB Joe Flacco back under center but the Browns, Rams and 49ers all face a long season.

In addition to Arizona, New England faces tough matchups on the road versus Pittsburgh and Denver plus home games against Seattle and Cincinnati. A 2-3 record in those contests, added to a 3-1 season start, means New England has to go 6-1 in their other games against Cleveland, Miami, Buffalo, San Fran, Los Angeles and their two contests versus New York. It’s going to be close but look for the Patriots to finish with an 11-5 overall record during the 2016 NFL campaign.
