All the MLS action continues this weekend when Montreal Impact host Columbus Crew. Montreal Impact vs Columbus Crew Odds

My Team's Next MatchImpact De Montreal

It’s been a very slow start for the Montreal Impact in 2017 who are languishing near the bottom of the Eastern Conference with a 2-4-3 record. It could even have been worse had they not defeated a Colorado side who are rooted to the bottom of the overall MLS standings with just four points. This win came last week and while some may argue a turning point, others would suggest that it was simply a game between two cellar-dwellers and the ‘least bad’ team won.

Montreal, similar to Toronto FC, started the season with the majority of their games played away from home – both sides played just once at home in the opening five matches. While Toronto managed to stay undefeated during their start (albeit with just one win), Montreal struggled to just three points. The Reds managed to kick on and are now top of the league while the Impact battle continued. The only silver lining is that they have still played just three out of nine matches at home, so there will be opportunities at the back end of the season to use their home-ground advantage.

One of the reasons Columbus are called the ‘Crew’ is presumably because both words start with the letter ‘C’. This season, you can bet they would like to throw in the word ‘consistency’ because their season is missing that one key ingredient. After a draw in the opening round, the Crew have gone LWWWLWLLWL, and with a 5-1-5 record to date it is extremely hard to get a read on this side. Their inability to tough out a draw is also concerning.

Columbus have blown a lead twice in their last three outings, conceding two second half goals on both occasions to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

MONTREAL IMPACT (+110) Bet365

So where does that leave us in terms of a result? Montreal are at home although have secured just four points from their three games at Saputo Stadium, so it’s not exactly a fortress. Columbus have a poor record away from home and have taken just three points from four matches this season. The Impact are unbeaten against the Crew in their last five meetings, and also have a 4-1 record at home against them. It’s never easy to rely on a team near the bottom of the table, but I’m feeling a Montreal Impact victory in this one.

MLS Predictions Roundup – May 13, 2017

As always, there are a number of great fixtures in the MLS this weekend. The league leaders Toronto FC host Minnesota United in a match that looks completely lopsided on paper. TFC have won five in a row, the longest winning streak in the club’s history, and can only be beaten by complacency as they face the side with the worst goals-against record in the competition (Minnesota average 2.5 goals conceded per game). This is one to add into an accumulator bet as the odds are far too short for Toronto here. All the action begins at 3pm ET.

It’s second in the East against second in the West when Orlando SC face off against Sporting KC at the Orlando City Stadium. Both sides have obviously had success so far in 2017 however, their recent results have been a little scratchy. Orlando have lost their last two games including a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Houston, while Sporting managed to beat the high-flying New York Red Bulls and lose to lowly Minnesota United in the space of five days.

KC’s defensive record remains the equal-best in the league which will be a challenge for an Orlando side that has only averaged just above one goal per game to date. A tough one to call but go for KC to nab the points away from home. Kick off is at 7pm ET. As always, Bet365.com has all the best odds and a variety of options available for every MLS fixture.
