MLS Week 32 Predictions

MLS Week 32 Predictions
Will L.A. or the New York squads manage to leapfrog Dallas and Toronto as the MLS regular season draws to a close? The stakes are rising in Week 32, as teams fight for post season position.

Week 31 of the MLS regular season featured a couple of upset results that call into question the readiness of top, playoff bound teams. It never looks good when a side sputters into the playoffs, especially when top seed and a bye are sacrificed in the process. During the last few weeks, missed opportunities for points loom large, increasing the pressure on clubs who are struggling to either make the playoffs or finish the regular season as a top seed for the post season.

The biggest matchup for week 32 features the Los Angeles Galaxy against FC Dallas, which may determine the winner of the Supporters’ Shield. In the eastern conference, the New York Red Bulls and New York City FC both gained ground and pulled even with Toronto FC, who could only muster a disappointing draw against the Union. Goal production wasn’t as crazy as the previous couple of weeks, so you might want to reconsider your strategy for over/under this week.

Week 32 MLS Predictions

During this part of the schedule, the picks of the week involve a top team listed as an underdog and a favourite likely to clinch the Supporters’ Shield if they win against their conference rival.

L.A. Galaxy vs. FC Dallas Prediction

BET Dallas @ -120 with William Hill Sportsbook

The Galaxy’s incredibly disappointing loss against Seattle might have LanDo wondering why he bothered to come out of retirement. Lucky for them, Dallas FC didn’t take full advantage, leaving points on the table against Real Salt Lake. If the Galaxy want to win the Supporters’ Shield, they’ll need to win against Dallas this week. Despite the extra motivation, expect Dallas to take this one at home, partly due to L.A.’s inability to defend recently.

D.C. United vs. Toronto FC Prediction

BET Toronto @ -179 with Bodog Sportsbook

With Toronto FC’s game in hand advantage expired, the Reds need to keep performing in order to clinch their first eastern conference championship. D.C. is in a similar situation, although fighting for a playoff spot. D.C. will be a serious disadvantage, traveling from D.C. to Toronto for their second game of the week. Home advantage and a rejuvenated lineup should score the Reds a win over the United, forcing the New York FC and Red Bulls to keep pace.

New York City FC vs Houston Dynamo Prediction

BET NYC @ +175 with William Hill Sportsbook

David Villa is having a superb year without anyone making a big deal out of it, and NYC FC has been the main benefactor, finding themselves in a three-way race for top spot in the eastern conference. Since they’re playing one of bottom dwellers of the west on the road, bookies have them as slight underdogs, which is great value for a top MLS squad. New York City FC is too good to be listed as underdogs, which makes this one of the best values of the week.

Philadelphia Union vs. New York Red Bulls Prediction

BET Red Bulls @ -189 with Sports Interaction Sportsbook

The Union escaped Toronto with points, disappointing the fans of the Reds, who wanted to go into week 32 with a stranglehold on the top spot in the east. We don’t expect the Union to pull off the same magic two games in a row on their road trip, especially against a Red Bulls team that finally tightened up to protect a close lead during their 1-0 win over the Impact last week.

Portland Timbers vs. Colorado Rapids Prediction

BET Colorado @ -137 with Bet365 Sportsbook

The Timbers fell swiftly to Houston last week, chopped down by poor coverage and a lack of creativity. The Rapids managed to stay afloat in the western conference race by earning an exciting 3-3 draw in Vancouver. After last week’s results, odds are heavily against the Timbers for their second straight game on the road. Colorado should be able to defend their home turf on Saturday.
