Chelsea vs Liverpool 2016 Preview And Prediction
Chelsea were flying high going into the Liberty stadium last Sunday. They had started the season with 4 straight wins. They acquired two defenders at the end of the transfer window including addressing their key area of need, and all signs pointed to them continuing their winning run.
However, after what can only be described as a shambolic game, that ended in them dropping points to Swansea they will be left with a sour taste. How they respond at Stamford Bridge on Friday when they welcome Liverpool will tell us a lot about this Blues side.

So what exactly happened on Sunday? Full disclosure, I am a Chelsea supporter. So having watched every minute of them so far this season, I can comfortably say they have the potential to be very good. But on Sunday, Chelsea were overconfident. This could have been an easy win if they had the killer instinct to put the Swans away. They missed several easy opportunites to make the game 2-0, then fell asleep and gave up a penalty on the counter attack.
Then all the goofiness happened. Antonio Conte was justifiably enraged at the officials as Swansea could have been down to 10 men after launching into brutal tackles all over the pitch. A clear missed foul led to the Swans’ second goal, and led to me and my mates trying to remember the words to the David Luiz song, as we had had enough of Gary Cahill for the time being.
Chelsea vs Liverpool Prediction
The thing about great managers is that they rarely drop points in consecutive games. We believe Conte to be a great manager and he will not allow his Chelsea side to get away with another Lackadaisical performance.

Chelsea made the types of errors last Sunday that we have come to expect from Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp wants his team to play a frenetic pace and press high up the pitch. But what this leads to is tons of space of the opponent to counter attack in. Combine that with the fact that he still has players on field prone to error and I see opportunites for the Blues.
The intelligent use of space by maestros such as Hazard, Willian and Oscar means that when N’golo Kante inevitably dispossesses the opponent, Chelsea will be off to the races.
The one caveat I have is that under Klopp’s regime, Liverpool’s best performances have come away from home against top sides. But I see an angry Chelsea team wiping the stink off from last weekend.

Thus far, all five of Chelsea’s games this season have gone over 2.5 goals. Combine that with the fact that last season in 19 league games the over went 12-7 and perhaps the total is another place to find value.
However as John Terry is out for this game, we don’t know how Chelsea’s defense will line up. We think it will be David Luiz who gets the nod, but will it be a back 3 or a back 4?
