CFL Week 15 Predictions

CFL Week 15 Predictions
As it should be, at the three-quarter pole of the 2016 Canadian Football League season, our CFL Week 15 preview and predictions revolve around contests that are cloaked with playoff implications. It's a three-day weekend as Edmonton visits Winnipeg on Friday, then the Calgary vs Hamilton and Ottawa vs BC battles roll during Saturday doubleheader action before the week closes with a matinee tilt that features Toronto facing Montreal on Sunday, October 2, 2016.

CFL Week 15 odds, on betting boards at top rated sportsbooks like Bodog and SportsInteraction, favour home cooking as the Blue Bombers, Lions and Alouettes are all home favourites while the Stampeders are the lone team posted as road chalk this weekend. As they will be once the CFL postseason play begins – Saskatchewan is on the sidelines watching the CFL Week 15 action.

CFL Week 14 Wagering Recap

Teams blowing big leads led us to a 2-2 money line mark and a dismal 1-3 ATS record during CFL Week 14 action. The week opened strong as we covered when Ottawa took down Toronto 29-12 on Friday. A “woulda, shoulda, coulda” mantra then set in as Calgary went up 24-0 vs Winnipeg before pulling out a 36-34 last second miracle win. Then the BC Lions raced out to a 14-0 lead against Edmonton before losing outright 27-23 to the Eskimos. Thinking Hamilton had more heart, we totally whiffed on the Tiger-Cats as they lost 20-18 to the 2-10 Roughriders in Saskatchewan. Looking onward and upward – let’s dive into our CFL Week 15 matchup previews and predictions.

Week 15 CFL Predictions

Edmonton Eskimos @ Winnipeg Blue Bombers 2016 CFL Week 15 Prediction

West Division foes open the CFL Week 15 action when Winnipeg hosts Edmonton at 8:30 PM ET on September 30, 2016, at Investors Group Field. The Blue Bombers had their seven-game winning streak snapped when Calgary PK Rene Paredes pounded home a 52-yard game ending field goal last Saturday. That contest ends up being a mixed bag for Winnipeg (8-5) who didn’t like falling behind 30-7, but then felt good about coming back to take a 34-33 lead, but had to be deflated by the late loss. Edmonton (6-7) was also down early last week, they spotted BC a 14-0 second quarter lead, but the Eskimos outscored the Lions 27-9 the rest way to post a 27-23 home win. Edmonton trails Winnipeg by two games in the race for the CFL crossover playoff spot. The defending Grey Cup Champion Eskimos found a defensive grove in the second half against the Lions and we feel that energy will carry over here. We’ll take the field goal plus a hook price and back Edmonton.

BET EDMONTON ESKIMOS +3.5 (-110) ATS AT SPORTSINTERACTION

Calgary Stampeders @ Hamilton Tiger-Cats CFL 2016 Week 15 Prediction

Forget about horses, the Stampeders must feel like magicians following their Week 14 Houdini like escape versus the Blue Bombers. Winnipeg showing lots of heart, plus Calgary (11-1-1) losing their sense of urgency, contributed to the Stamps blowing a 30-7 lead at McMahon Stadium last week. Calgary driving 36 yards (on two plays) to set up a 52-yard field goal, all with just 20 seconds left on the clock, is a fairly fortunate victory. The good ones are also lucky eh? The Tiger-Cats (6-7) looked like a team that wants to be down south in November as they lost 20-18 in Saskatchewan. Hamilton trails Ottawa by two games in the loss column in the “battle” for first in the East Division. The Cats can score but they can’t stop anyone. This might be the shortest price we get on Calgary for the remainder of the season. Lay the points and ride with the Red & White when Tim Hortons Field hosts this 2014 Grey Cup Championship rematch at 4:00 PM ET on October 1, 2016.

BET CALGARY STAMPEDERS -2.5 (-110) ATS AT BODOG

Ottawa Redblacks @ British Columbia Lions 2016 CFL Week 15 Prediction

Ottawa heads to British Columbia as the Redblacks and Lions meet at BC Place in the second half of the Saturday doubleheader. Fresh off a bye, and riding a three-game winning streak, the Lions (8-4) looked good while opening a 14 point lead before falling flat in Edmonton last week. The Leos have been pleasantly decent on both sides of the ball this season. Ottawa (6-5-1) was in control right out of the starting gate last week as they opened a 16-0 lead and never looked back while trashing Toronto 29-12 at TD Place Stadium last Friday. Somewhat surprising, the Leos have not lost two in a row all year. On the other side of the coin, the Redblacks haven’t won two straight since opening the season with a 2-0 start. Viewing these teams as fairly equal, we are little nervous about the big price here but do we like the Lions at home. Lay the 5.5 and back BC at SportsInteraction. Don’t forget, bettors can follow this and every CFL battle on the LIVE wagering platform at SIA.

BET BRITISH COLUMBIA LIONS -5.5 (-110) ATS AT SPORTSINTERACTION

Toronto Argonauts @ Montreal Alouettes CFL 2016 Week 15 Prediction

East Division cellar dwellers close out the CFL Week 15 action when Montreal hosts Toronto in a matinee match at 1:00 PM ET on October 2, 2016, at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium in Quebec. It’s difficult to understand why the CFL would schedule games up against a slew of early Sunday NFL Week 4 action but it is what it is. The Argonauts (5-8) posted reasonable numbers last week but their undisciplined play led to eleven penalties that cost Toronto 146 yards in their 29-12 loss to Ottawa. Montreal, who are riding a four-game losing streak, were on a Week 14 bye and they used the time off to strip Jim Popp of his head coach duties – though he does retain his GM title. The Als promoted offensive guru Jacques Chapdelaine into the top job and coaching changes can provide a spark for teams. How big and bright the spark will be remains to be seen though as the move was made almost two weeks ago. Both of these squads are a mess but Toronto is worse off especially on defense. Align with the Alouettes (-3) at the world famous Bodog sportsbook.

BET MONTREAL ALOUETTES -3 (-110) ATS AT BODOG
