CFL Picks Week 8

CFL Picks Week 8
Ferrari or Ford Pinto? Football bettors have a choice similar to that this week as CFL Week 8 action is up against the first full slate of NFL X-Games. The choice is simple in our eyes as we will stick to wagering on contests that matter rather than matches that will feature fourth-stringers. Bigger balls start to soar when Ottawa hosts Edmonton at 7:30 PM ET on August 10, 2017, at TD Place Stadium.

CFL Football Games This Week

Inching closer to the 2017 CFL halfway point, the Eskimos vs Redblacks Thursday Night fight is a rematch of the 2016 CFL Eastern Final. Continuing four straight nights of football, Toronto visits Montreal at 7:30 PM ET on Friday August 11, Hamilton hosts Winnipeg 7:30 PM ET on Saturday August 12, and a rare Sunday Night clash closes the week as BC rolls into Regina for an 8:00 PM ET duel on August 13. Dealing with bumps and bruises Calgary is enjoying a deserved Week 8 BYE.

We kind of middled CFL Week 7 action going 3-1 SU up and 2-2 ATS. We rolled to an easy double dip with Calgary who trounced Toronto but teams letting leads slip away hurt us after that. We lost both picks on Ottawa vs Winnipeg while Hamilton hung with Edmonton to give us an Eskimos SU win and a ATS loss. We closed the week with two wins when the Lions crushed Saskatchewan. OVER odds went 3-1 as the Cats vs ‘Riders 30-15 final was the only UNDER winner on the card.

CFL Predictions Today and Week 7 Review

Calgary easily topping Toronto 41-24 got our picks off to a good start in Week 7. The worm turned after that though as Ottawa let a 30-23 fourth quarter lead slip away and lost 33-30 to Winnipeg giving us a 0-2 mark on that contest. Though we earned split with Edmonton – it should have been better as the Eskimos allowed a late Hamilton touchdown and failed to cover the -9.5 line during a 33-28 win. The Fool’s Gold we thought the ‘Riders were, we won both BC bets as the Lions mauled Saskatchewan during a 30-15 victory at BC Place in Vancouver. Let’s check out the Week 8 battles!

  • Edmonton at Ottawa Pick: Eskimos +2.5 (-110) ATS at William Hill

Meeting for the second time this season, Edmonton must still be feeling the pain of their 35-23 loss during the Eastern Final last season in Ottawa. The Eskimos won the initial rematch 23-21 when the Redblacks visited the Alberta Capital in Week 4. Despite a long list of injuries, Edmonton continues their solid play on both sides of the ball. The Redblacks (1-5-1) have dropped two in a row, after their first win of the season 24-19 over Montreal back in Week 5, but all of their losses have been by four points or less. We like the Eskimos (+2.5) ATS and straight up (+125) ML William Hill lines.

Final Score: Edmonton Eskimos 27-20

  • Toronto at Montreal Pick: Alouettes -7 (-110) ATS at Bet365

Consensus underdogs with fight, as we near the 2017 CFL halfway point, Toronto has been dealt a setback as QB Ricky Ray injured his shoulder during the Argos loss in Calgary. Bet365 is the first CSB top rated sportsbook to go out on a limb (00:01 AM ET Friday) as they mounted Montreal as -7 (-110) chalk at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium. Despite their collapse in Winnipeg, two weeks ago, Montreal has a stout defense and their offense is starting to come to life. No Ricky Ray spells trouble for the Boatmen so we will give up the converted touchdown to align with the Alouettes.

Final Score: Montreal Alouettes 21-9

  • Winnipeg at Hamilton Pick: Blue Bombers -2.5 (-110) ATS at Bodog

Playing the role of Houdini, Winnipeg snatched victory from the jaws of defeat for a second straight week as they posted ten unanswered points and escaped Ottawa with a win. That keeps the Blue Bombers tied with BC in the Wild West loss column. While some are giving Hamilton “participation awards” for hanging with Edmonton last week – the Tiger-Cats are 0-6-0 and slowly sliding out of the playoff race. The Cats are Kittens on both sides of the ball and can not be trusted until further notice. Chalk on the road at Bodog - we are laying the -2.5 (-110) ATS odds to back the Bombers.

Final Score: Winnipeg Blue Bombers 39-12

Still a long way from their first BYE in Week 11, and with a huge clash versus Calgary looming after they complete this home-and-home series with Saskatchewan, the Lions need to keep the pedal to the metal. The 30-15 final score last week in Vancouver flatters the ‘Riders as BC was in full control with a 30-0 lead mid-way through the fourth quarter. Though they are at home, in their shinny new Mosaic Stadium, the Green & White being very slight +2.0 (-110) pups is rather generous to those looking to prowl with the Cats. Count us in that crowd as we’re backing BC at SportsInteraction.

Final Score: Saskatchewan Roughriders 41-8
