UFC 212 Predictions: Aldo vs Holloway Fight Card, Odds, Picks
UFC 212 features a champion versus champion fight as UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo and interim champ Max Holloway face off in Brazil's Rio de Janeiro. Despite both men's devastating losses to Conor McGregor, the stylistic match-up is too good to pass on as both elite strikers promise a fast-paced war. Main card starts 10:00 PM ET.

Aldo vs Holloway Fight Card

That the UFC featherweight championship has as much value as a fake belt is beside the point for UFC 212, which brings a fantastic stylistic matchup between champion Jose Aldo and interim champion Max Holloway. Aldo was promoted to champion after then-champion Conor McGregor forfeited the belt while Max Holloway won the interim belt.

Aldo vs Holloway Fight Card

Prediction TBD

Aldo’s 13-second knockout loss to McGregor will forever haunt his legacy but it shouldn’t diminish the rest of his career. The Brazilian went undefeated for a decade and destroyed every fighter he faced. Aldo combined his potent Muay Thai with impregnable takedown defense (93%) and tore his challengers apart methodically and viciously. Outside McGregor, no fighter could hang with Aldo on the feet. And at 30, Aldo is still very much in his prime.

Young Max Holloway is only 25 and is already a UFC champion, the same age Aldo was when he debuted in the UFC as their inaugural featherweight champ.

The Hawaiian boasts a 10-fight winning streak with seven finishes. The lanky fighter has improved by leaps and bounds with every fight and his high-volume striking style (5.67 strikes landed per minute) matched with his fast-paced aggression makes him a true threat to Aldo.

Aldo has the sharper Muay Thai and grappling and Holloway has not faced the caliber of striker he is. However, Holloway’s ability to switch stances and fight effectively from southpaw, a stance Aldo has struggled against, will be his x-factor. Provided Holloway can neutralize Aldo’s leg kicks, handle himself in the clinch, and stuff the takedowns, he can outwork the champion to a close decision. At plus money, he is the right bet.

Best UFC Picks – June 3, 2017

Although most sportsbooks have lined the event with top-heavy favourites, there is money to be made with a little strategy. Claudia Gadelha (-350) is the division’s second-best and her smothering wrestle-boxing style will be too much for talented kickboxer Karolina Kowalkiewicz.

She is a solid fighter to bet. Another favourite, Antonio Carlos Junior (-250) has a favourable matchup against Eric Spicely. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world champion is the superior grappler and is on home soil. Betting each individually is costly but a parlay cuts the odds to -125. Great value! Watch the video below if you’re not familiar yet with parlay bets.

There are usually big upsets with Brazilian cards. Look no further than the barnburner between Paulo Borrachinha and Oluwale Bamgbose (+225). Borrachinha is a sizable favourite despite his inexperience. If he fights smart, he’ll take Bamgbose to the ground but chances are he trades blows. At +225, it’s a good dice roll for Bamgbose to catch Borrachinha first.

Beltran (+120) is an unusual underdog against newcomer Alcantra. The Mexican is more seasoned and has decent striking while Alcantra has a porous defense and could be in for a whooping.
