World Cup Second Stage Odds: Trio of CONCACAF Clubs Advance
Exhilarating World Cup action resumes today with three of the four clubs representing the CONCACAF soccer confederation still alive and kicking in Brazil. As heavy underdogs to capture the overall Championship, the USA, Mexico and Costa Rica squads will compete in second round action versus Belgium, Netherlands and Greece respectively. Knockout stage competition opens with host Brazil battling Chile at 12:00 PM ET on June 28, 2014.
Mexico owns top chalk status of remaining CONCACAF Clubs
After opening the 2014 FIFA World Cup as the 20th overall favorite, with +18700 championship price, Mexico now holds the 9th spot on the SportsInteraction betting board. With their +3400 money line, Mexico has jumped past the USA as the top rated team representing CONCACAF. Los Manitos open their knock-out stage play versus the Netherlands who scored ten goals in the opening round – including five in their rout of defending Champion Spain.
USA and Costa Rica set to face Belgium and Greece in the 2nd Stage
Plunged into what many were calling the “Group of Death” and forecast by some to leave Brazil with zero points, the USA defeated Ghana and tied with Portugal before dropping a 1-0 decision to Germany. Costa Rica also faced a tough draw but with wins over Uruguay and Italy, plus a tie versus a toothless England squad, Los Ticos emerged as the Group D winner. The USA is in tough versus Germany but we like Costa Rica to defeat Greece.
