The Viral Roundup – Cruisin’ Jaguars Edition

The Viral Roundup – Cruisin’ Jaguars Edition
Jacksonville tops Tennessee on Thursday Night Football, the Rangers watch their winning streak crumble in the Sunshine State and Philly faces uncertainty at quarterback heading into Week 11. Here's the minty fresh world of sports you're waking up to on November 20, 2015.

It wasn’t a pretty game but Jacksonville was pretty happy with the outcome of their Thursday Night Football clash. The Jags, favoured by a field goal going in, walked out with a 19-13 victory over the Titans in primetime and now sit a half game back of Houston and Indianapolis for top spot in the AFC South. (Jacksonville’s 4-6 record means they’ve already topped last year’s 3-13 record.) The Jaguars battled back from a 13-9 4th quarter deficit to hit Julius Thomas in the endzone and add insurance with a 36 yard field goal. Blake Bortles threw for 242 yards with a TD and a pick, while Titans pivot Marcus Mariota racked up 231 yards through the air with no touchdowns or turnovers. The loss drops Tennessee to a 2-8 mark on the year.

The latest UFC Fight Night card is set to go down this weekend in Monterrey, Mexico. Welterweight Kelvin Gastelum brings his 12-1-0 record into the Octagon for a main event tilt with Neil Magny. As you might imagine, the UFC has knocked out some videos hyping the fight. Check out the clip below which features Gastelum talking about the challenge ahead of him on Saturday night in Mexico. Gastelum is currently listed as a -285 favourite to win.

Did You Know?

- Tampa Bay may have shaken off their playoff hangover. The Bolts (a +105 home underdog) snapped New York’s nine game winning streak on Thursday night in a rematch of their 2015 Eastern Conference Final clash. Ben Bishop made 20 saves in the 2-1 victory and Valtteri Filppula scored a shorthanded marker with 1:05 remaining to lock up the home victory. (Bishop is now 9-0 versus the Rangers in regular season play.) Dominic Moore put in his second goal of 2015-16 in a losing cause.

- Miami took advantage of DeMarcus Cousins’ one game suspension in their showdown with the Kings. The Heat were favoured by 10 heading in and exiting with a 116-109 W that saw Chris Bosh collect a double-double (23 points and 11 assists) while Tyler Johnson scored 19 off the bench. Meanwhile, Sacramento dropped their second straight and had to readjust after Rudy Gay left the game with a shoulder injury. ESPN notes the Kings are an ugly 6-33 without Cousins in the past three seasons.

- The Philadelphia Eagles have gotten some more bad news about the health of Sam Bradford. The QB not only suffered a concussion last week but a separated shoulder as well. Even with Bradford’s ill health, he has not been ruled out of the starter’s position for Sunday’s clash with the Bucs. (The Eagles are favoured by six in that contest.) If Bradford’s unable to go, Mark Sanchez will take over as Philadelphia looks to climb in the tight NFC East standings shuffle.
