Did You Hear?
The American League West leading Houston Astros sent the fans home happy on Tuesday night. The ‘Stros (a -115 moneyline home favourite) topped Tampa Bay 3-2 thanks to a solo shot from Marwin Gonzalez in the bottom of the 10th. The jack was Gonzalez’s 8th of the year and he went 3-4 in the contest. The two teams square off again tomorrow night in Houston. Dallas Keuchel will start for the Astros and Nathan Karns will take to the mound for the Rays.

Houston Rockets star James Harden recently signed a whopping $200 million endorsement contract with Adidas and that prompted Fox Sports Live to look at the Top 5 Athlete Endorsement Deals of All-Time. No bonus points for guessing who came in first.
Did You Know?
- There were rumblings that former Tigers personnel guru Dave Dombrowski might get picked up by the Blue Jays, but it turns out he’s headed elsewhere in the American League East. Dombrowski has come aboard as the President of Operations for the Boston Red Sox effective immediately. GM Ben Cherington has declined an offer to stay on in that role following the hire, but will remain with the club to help the transition. By the way, the Red Sox smoked the visiting Cleveland Indians 9-1 in yesterday’s action.
- Some scary news for Bills fans last night. Prized new acquisition LeSean McCoy headed to the locker room during a joint practice on Tuesday with a strained hamstring. An MRI is next in the cards for the running back to monitor the extent of the damage suffered. (This seems like a good place to remind everybody that Fred Jackson is also out with a hamstring injury.) McCoy and the new look Buffalo Bills are pegged as a 33/1 shot to win the Super Bowl this winter.
- Here’s something the Toronto Argonauts have probably never had to worry about: What happens if the Jays make playoffs? The Toronto Blue Jays are in the thick of the playoff chase and if they make the postsesason it will require their CFL cousins to reschedule their Rogers Centre dates. The Blue Jays (a strong 4/1 favourite to win the World Series) have priority status at the shared stadium so the Boatmen would have to either reschedule or relocate a home game that got in the playoff path. In MLB action last night, Toronto topped Philadelphia 8-5.
