Chip Kelly’s revamped Eagles squad made their debut on Monday Night Football and the results were, um, mixed. A Sam Bradford pick late in the 4th killed a Philly comeback attempt and allowed the Falcons (a one point home underdog) to escape with a 26-24 win. All eyes were on new Philly acquisitions Bradford and DeMarco Murray, but it was Atlanta wideout Julio Jones that stole the show with 141 yards receiving and 2 TDs. The MNF triumph marked the first victory in the tenure of new Atlanta coach Dan Quinn and the Falcons will go for win #2 in New York this Sunday. The Eagles are aiming to bounce back in their home opener against the Cowboys.

Did You Know?

- The Royals are continuing to have a lackluster September. Kansas City suffered their eighth loss in ten games courtesy of an 8-3 defeat at the hands of Cleveland. Indians starter Carlos Carrasco tossed 9 Ks in six innings of work, while 3B Lonnie Chisenhall went 3-3 at the plate with 3 RBI. On the flip side, Royals outfielder Alex Gordon went 4-5 with a homer in a losing cause. Game 2 of this four game set goes down tonight in Cleveland with the Indians rated as the -130 moneyline favourite.

- Washington lost more than just their season opener against Miami on Sunday. It’s been revealed that star wideout DeSean Jackson will be out for 3-4 weeks with a hamstring injury. Jackson exited the game in the first quarter after getting hurt running for a deep pass. Washington ended up losing 17-10 to the Dolphins. Next on Washington’s schedule is a home contest against the visiting Rams. St. Louis are currently a 3.5 point road favourite for the Week 2 matchup.

- Dez Bryant is on the shelf for 4-6 weeks with foot surgery on the way. The prized Cowboys wide receiver suffered a broken fifth metatarsal in his right foot during the team’s 27-26 Sunday Night Football squeaker over the Giants. Bryant’s going to difficult to replace. Since 2012, no other player in the league has caught as many TD passes as Bryant. The newly Dezless Dallas football squad travel to Philly next week for an NFC East showdown against the Eagles.

- Nick Diaz has been hammered with a five year suspension by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The MMA fighter was presented with the stiff punishment after his third marijuana-related offense.
