Did You Hear?
Just when you thought the Jays offense couldn’t get any more loaded… Toronto has sorted out a major trade with Colorado that will see the Rockies deal superstar shortstop Troy Tulowitzki to the Blue Jays in exchange for shortstop Jose Reyes and a trio of pitching prospects. Tulowitzki joins a Jays club that leads the Majors in RBIs by a wide margin and is viewed as one of the most formidable offenses in baseball today. (Conversely, Toronto’s pitching has been a major weakness in 2015.) Tulowitzki has hit 12 homers, 53 ribbies and holds a .300 average in 2015. Toronto currently sits a handful of games back in the AL East and Wild Card races with oddsmakers pegging the club as a 25/1 shot to win the World Series this fall.
Did You See?
Wrestling megastar John Cena broke his nose during last night’s edition of WWE Raw and it was about as gross as you might imagine. (Yes, we know pro graps isn’t “real.” The serious beak damage sure was, though.) The United States champion’s busted schnozz didn’t prevent him from defeating WWE heavyweight champ Seth Rollins in a non-title tilt, but he left looking far more beat up than the guy who lost. Watch below to check out the nasal carnage.
Did You Know?
- This is not the news Patriots fans were looking to hear. QB Tom Brady’s 4-game suspension for Deflategate has been upheld by NFL commish Roger Goodell. The case will now head to federal court as New England continues to fight to get Brady on the field much sooner this regular season. Elsewhere in suspension news, star Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell had his three game suspension widdled down to two. Bell was involved in a 2014 incident where he and LeGarrette Blount were arrested on DUI and pot possession charges.
- The Vancouver Canucks are bringing Brandon Sutter the West Coast. The 26-year-old forward scored 21 goals and 12 assists for the Pittsburgh Penguins last year and might be best remembered as part of the deal that sent Jordan Staal to Carolina back in 2012. In return, the Pens will be getting Nick Bonino, Adam Clendening and a second-round pick in 2016. A third-round pick from Pittsburgh will be accompanying Sutter to Vancouver. For the curious, the Canucks are projected as a 45/2 shot to win the Stanley Cup next summer and the Pens are considered a more likely bet at 13/1.
