Like a kid counting down to Christmas morning – there’s just one more sleep until Super Bowl Sunday! Today we continue our look at the fascinating world of proposition wagering during the National Football League Championship title game. Kickoff for SB XLVII is now less than 24 hours away as the pigskin is set to soar at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, LA, at 6:30 PM ET on February 3, 2013. Will the player who scores the first TD be wearing an ODD or EVEN numbered jersey? Bet on it at bet365.com!
ODD numbered jerseys are loaded with star power (-220)
While conducting our research on the bet365.com prop bet posted as “First Touchdown Shirt Odd/Even” we shocked bt the star power of the players that will don an ODD numbered uniform for both the Ravens and 49ers. All Pro running backs Ray Rice and Frank Gore, will both be wearing an ODD numbered jersey on Sunday. So will quarterbacks Colin Kaepernick and Joe Flacco, as well as 49ers WR Michael Crabtree and TE Vernon Davis. Gore, Rice, and Crabtree, are also the top chalk on the bet365 “Player to Score First TD” prop wager.
A longshot needs to score first TD for EVEN to cash (+180)
We had to double check that we were reading this prop offering properly after we reviewed the EVEN numbered jersey list for Super Bowl XLVII. Simply put, there aren’t very many TD scoring favorites with this option. Ravens WR Torrey Smith and TE Denis Pitta top the list followed by 49ers WR Randy Moss and TE Delanie Walker. Baltimore’s secondary RB Bernard Pierce, speedy WR Jacoby Jones, and bulldozing FB Vonta Leach, round out the top seven on the EVEN jersey number list. This almost seems like a Bet The Farm at bet365.com type wager!
