Instead of trying to figure out which backup National Football League players are better than others, while betting on NFL preseason action, we turn to fight for first in Canadian Football League. Looking like the cream of the CFL crop, Calgary is in British Columbia and the Stampeders lead the Lions by a half game in the West Division. Meeting for the third time this season, these rivals hit the gridiron at 10:00 PM ET on August 19, 2016, at BC Place in Vancouver.
Lions vs Stampeders: CFL West Preview and Wagering Lines
More than familiar with each other, Calgary and BC are battling for the third time in eight weeks. Though we often wonder about it, the 2016 CFL schedule is even stranger this season. With eleven weeks left on the slate, the Stampeders and Lions meet for the final time during the regular season tonight. Don’t be surprised if their next clash is in the Western Final on November 20, 2016.
Calgary dominated the Lions but let one slip away as they dropped a 20-18 decision at BC Place back in Week One. The Stamps missed a ton of scoring chances early and then let a 17-6 third quarter lead slip away in that contest. BC more than returned the favor as they were up 41-26 in the fourth quarter but lost 44-41 in overtime during Week Six action at McMahon Stadium.

Since their loss in Calgary, British Columbia has won two high-scoring games. The first contest was a 38-14 Week Seven annihilation of the Alouettes in Montreal. The Leo’s then jumped out to a 32-12 lead at halftime and hung on for a 43-38 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on August 13 at BC Place. Calgary is on quite a roll as the Stampeders are 5-0-1 since their season opening loss to the Lions. The tie was a hard fought 26-26 battle against the Redblacks in Ottawa back in Week Three. Since then, the Stamps have won four in a row by a 131-84 combined final count. Calgary QB Bo Levi Mitchell leads the CFL with twelve passing touchdowns and the Stamps have given up the least sacks and turnovers this season.
