Preakness Stakes: Beauty & the Beast Scenario Unfolds at Pimlico

Preakness Stakes: Beauty & the Beast Scenario Unfolds at Pimlico
Fresh off a fifth place finish in the Kentucky Derby two weeks ago – the best ever finish in the Run for the Roses by a Lady Jockey, Rosie Napravnik is ready to ride at Old Hilltop this weekend. The red haired beauty of horse racing will get another crack at Orb as she brings Mylute into the second jewel of the Triple Crown Racing Series. Post time is scheduled for 6:20 PM ET on Saturday, May 18, 2013, from Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland.

Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winning rider heads to the Preakness

In case you haven’t noticed, the horse racing industry isn’t just about the Good Ole Boys these days. In fact, it’s flat out HOT! That is more than evident when one does a little research into Lady Jockey Rosie Napravnik who will pilot Mylute, a #3 favorite with a +700 William Hill wagering line, during the Preakness Stakes. Possessing beauty, brains, and brawn, Napravnik became the second Lady Jockey to win a Breeders’ Cup flat race when she guided Shanghai Bobby to victory in the Grey Goose Juvenile at gorgeous Santa Anita Park back on November 3, 2012.

Run for the Black-Eyed Susan Blanket: Mylute and Orb hook up again

As they did in the Kentucky Derby, winner Orb and fifth place finisher Mylute will share the track during the 138th running of the Preakness Stakes. Both of these horses came from well back (17th and 18th respectively) on the sloppy track at Churchill Downs two weeks ago – conditions will be much better at Pimlico on Saturday. Orb and Mylute choose to stay away from the radioactive pace of the Derby as Palace Malice ran the first six furlongs in a torrid 1:09 and 4/5 seconds before running out of gas. Both horses hit their stride at the top of the stretch and the Preakness distance (1 3/16 miles) is suitable for these fierce thoroughbreds. Back an Orb + Mylute exacta box!
