NFL Championship Sunday Results: Super Bowl XLIX Features Seahawks vs Patriots
NFC Championship: Seattle Seahawks vs Green Bay Packers
Defending an NFC Championship isn’t easy and no has done it since Green Bay turned the double during the 1996 – 1997 NFL seasons. If any team can pull it off – Seattle certainly has the weapons to do so. While we have plowed through a ton of stats and scenario’s to back up our Seahawks call, three keys really stand out to us. Linebacker Bobby Wagner is a beast and Seattle has not lost since he returned from injury in Week 12. RB Marshawn Lynch, who is looking for a fat new contract that Seattle won’t grant him, is playing is second last “audition” game and every GM in the NFL will be watching as he goes off and buries the Packers in the second half. Seattle is 25-2 with Russell Wilson under center at The Link - the loudest stadium in the NFL. We are backing The Champs here.
AFC Championship: New England Patriots vs Indianapolis Colts
Although history does not always repeat itself – it can’t be dismissed outright. The Patriots, with defensive genius Bill Belichick and QB Tom Brady guiding the ship, have owned QB Andrew Luck and Indianapolis – or any QB led Colts team for that matter. In three games versus Luck & Crew, New England has pummeled the Colts by 144-66 margin – including their 42-20 win in Indianapolis back in Week 11 action. While we don’t like the fact that they had to do it, the Patriots erasing two 14-point deficits versus Baltimore last weekend was very impressive. The Colts are full marks for their two playoff wins but New England is not missing their top receiving weapon as the Bengals were, nor do the Pats have a worn out and ailing QB like Denver did. Pillage the books with the Patriots.
Championship Sunday Prediction: We can’t turn away from the home teams here. Even, if the venues were switched, we would still be calling for a Seattle vs New England Super Bowl XLIX Duel in the Desert. The Pats and Hawks have the better defense, they have more overall weapons on both sides of the ball, and they know how to win in January. Sensing bettors could get stung by a back-door cover in one of these contests, we are tying the Seahawks and Patriots together with a 300 unit parlay wager on the money lines posted on the betting board at the Bet365 sportsbook.
