National Football League Futures Odds 2016 NFC Champions
Going through NFL withdrawal, on this first Sunday without football, today we take a look at the NFC Championship futures odds posted on the betting board at the Bodog online sportsbook. Two very fortunate teams will have the honor of participating Super Bowl 50 on February 7, 2016, at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, CA. Let's look at the top National Football Conference contenders.
Seattle Seahawks: Defending NFC Champs retain top chalk
With the dust barely settled on the Duel in Desert, Disaster in the Desert if you are a Seahawks fan, Bodog bookmakers have installed Seattle as the top chalk to get to their third straight Super Bowl. The numbers are stacked against the Hawks right out of the gate as no NFL team has played in three straight Super Bowl contests in over two decades. The Buffalo Bills played in Super Bowl 25 through 28 (1991-1994) losing all four games. Denver failed win a third straight Conference Championship in 2000 and New England did the same in 2006. Further muddying the picture, no team has ever won three straight NFC Championships as seven have tried and failed dating back to 1971. Green Bay failed to win a third straight NFC Championship during the 1998-99 NFL season.
Green Bay Packers: Title Town is jonesing for their fourth NFC Championship
Green Bay heads into the off-season with the Collapse at CenturyLink Field framed squarely in their minds. Because it took way longer than the one play interception the Seahawks committed in the Super Bowl, the Packers collapse late in the NFC Championship game may sting even more. Green Bay needs to re-sign free-agents WR Randall Cobb and OL Bryan Bulaga (we feel they will) in order to return almost intact for the 2015 NFL season. The Cowboys, Eagles and 49ers round out the top five NFC favorites. Underdogs with an outside shot include the Lions and Saints though no team after Green Bay stands out to us. We are Packer backers with a 300 unit wager at Bodog.

Handicappers who convince themselves - and anyone else who will listen - that the Kentucky Derby is just another race probably haven't cashed too many tickets on the first Saturday in May. The truth is people should bet the Derby differently because of just how unlike any other race it is.
