Monday Night Football NFL Week 14 Green Bay vs Atlanta
Week 14 of the National Football League schedule closes with a Monday Night Football tilt that has the makings of another blowout when Green Bay hosts Atlanta. The Packers and Falcons have slim leads in the NFC North and South divisions respectively but QB Aaron Rodgers & Crew are serious Super Bowl contenders while the Black Birds are nothing more than pretenders. Kick off is slated for 8:30 PM ET on December 8, 2014, from the frozen tundra at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI.
Green Bay: Aiming to maintain NFC North lead over Detroit
Unlike last season, when Detroit folded like a cheap tent, the Lions don’t appear ready to fade down the stretch this year. The Cats did their job on Sunday as they bashed the Buccaneers 34-17 at home. The win moves the Lions to a half game of the top spot in the NFC North in what is now a two-horse race. The Packers (9-3) trail the Lions on the head to head tiebreaker so they need to keep winning. Green Bay is perfect at home this season and their six wins have been by a 245-106 margin including two straight signature wins over the Eagles (53-20) and Patriots (26-21).
Packers Aaron Rodgers vs Falcons Matt Ryan: Brilliant quarterback battle gone bad
It wasn’t that long ago when Aaron Rodgers vs Matt Ryan was considered a marquee match-up. Times have changed as Rodgers is playing at an MVP level while Matty Ice has gone cold. Operating like a surgeon at home (and just about everywhere else) Rodgers has thrown 31 TD passes and zero interceptions over his last 360 pass attempts at Lambeau Field. His last INT came during a 23-14 Week 13 win over the Vikings on December 2, 2012. Matt Ryan on the other hand, who has struggled on the road throughout his career, sits 13th with a 93.7 passer rating. Rodgers (118.6) is the top rated NFL passer in big way over Cowboys QB Tony Romo (108.8 ) who sits second.
Falcons vs Packers Prediction: Bookmakers at the SportsBetting.ag sportsbook have Green Bay listed as huge home chalk for this contest tonight. The Packers defense compliments their offense as Clay Matthews & Crew are giving up just 17.6 points per game at home. Atlanta has surprisingly won two straight road games – albeit against their weak NFC South sisters Tampa Bay and Carolina. Both teams are playoff race motivated but the Packers are the superior squad here. That said, after getting burned by back-door covers twice this weekend (Florida State vs Georgia Tech and Denver vs Buffalo) we’re a little spread price gun shy at this point. As such, we are going to stick with our current “chip-away” mantra and lay 1000 units on the Packers monster money line odds posted on the SportsBetting.ag betting board. The 14.28% return isn’t chump change folks.
